Tour de France was this weekend?

the 24 hour tour at Le Mans, it's usually much better than the 24 hours at Daytona

Well Today is another college double header so MAYBE Max can go 7 innings and we can have a chance at winning (since we have no bull pen)

Um....well never mind that.  Max walks the first batter of inning 3 and then gives up HR to the 2nd batter.  2-0 Mets.

Andrew Stephenson is on fire at the plate lately.

Hit a HR today.  Batting .344 this year(only 31 AB this year) but lately been doing very well.  Batting .400 over last 7 games.

Max has given up 2 HR today.  Nats trail 3-2 in the 5th. (of 7 innings)

Max gets through the six but he's at 109 pitches.  I would guess he's done.  Game tied 3-3.
No decision for him unless the Nats score in the bottom 6th

Well the Nats finished the season in fine fashion winning their last three (meaningless) games.   Decent showing by pitching for all three.
Bats surely woke up in the season finale with 15 runs on 11 hits, including a grand slam by Trea Turner.

Juan Soto wins the batting title with best average in the NL and becomes the youngest player in history to do so.  Pretty impressive.  Seems like a really good kid, lets hope he stays that way.
And this kid ....the proven best hitter in baseball was due to make $629K on a 2-way contract
He actually collected $233,111 with the shortened season.

Trea Turner is also a big bright spot this year with continued improvement at the plate

Stephenson has been on a tear since his call up - another 2 hits in the final game leaving him with a .366 average for the "year" - over a limited number of games (41 at bats)

The Nats have a lot of guys on league minimum pay which is about $563k per year, but with the shortened season, some of them made very little.

Paulo Espina (Who?...yeah, I know) pitched in 2 games for a total of 6.0 innings pitched for the Nats this season (started one)  and made $21,805 this year.

Max pitched in twelve games this season for a total of 67.1 Innings pitched and collected $17,801,286.  Not too shabby.  Granted, he is one of the best pitchers in baseball.  That's about $265k per inning

Juan Soto (who IS THE BEST HITTER in baseball) played in 42 games this season and won the batting title made $233,111 for the season

Max Scherzer was paid more for one inning of pitching this season than Juan Soto earned in 42 games

Meanwhile, Strasburg makes $35mil (and pitched 5 innings this year)....(although with the covid season they all had adjusted pay.)  And I really don't know how/if they pay a guy on IR

although it appears he made $8,730,159 of his $35,000,000 salary this "season"
$8,730,159 for 5 innings.....is $1,746,032 per inning.....$582,010 per out.  I could not find how many pitches he threw this year otherwise I would tell you how much he made per pitch  8-0

Max is a full 26.4 % of the Nats total salary this season.  Strasburg was 12.95% (for his 5 innings of work)
Juan Soto was about 1/3 of 1%
Espino was .03 of 1 %

Nats need to step up and ink Soto to a long term deal before he's unaffordable

Oh, and Philthy did not make the WC spot....muchly to do with three losses to the Nats in the last week of the season.

Well, that's all folks.  The season is done.  What to do in the boredom thread now

Hey!  Anybody know when the Stanley Cup Finals start?

One more thing...
with the Nats winning the last 3 games of the season (against the Mets) and going 7-3 in the last ten basically tied them with Mets record for the season at 26-34, so the Nats technically were NOT in the cellar at season's end.

MLB.com is such a pain in ass to navigate,  just like damn near every other website these days.

Anyway, the way baseball stats are tracked you'd think its very easy to find out how many pitches any one person threw in a season, but nooooooo. In Strawberries case it was somewhat easy. Find out which games he played in and pull up the box score for those two games. Strawberry threw 85 pitches in game this season. If he's not going to retire any time soon he needs to be moved to the bullpen
