Well the Nats managed to win two and lose two vs Atlanta this weekend and then beat the AL best Tampa Bay yesterday behind a strong showing by Max:  7 innings of no runs, 8 SO.

Nats are 3-2 over the last five against very good teams.  Well sounds good if they were not 1-9 just before that.

No longer in the bottom 5 of the league.....managed to squeak to 6th worst  :)

Still no hopes of any playoff.  They'd have to manage nearly 1000% wins the rest of the way.

Actually, IF the Nats go on a 20 game winning streak to finish the season (well actually 21 since they won yesterday), they'd end up only 35-25 which is a .583 winning percentage for the season...which lands them behind Atlanta and further behind the wildcard spot (using current winning percentages of those teams)

kind of hard to make up big ground in a 60 game season when you play like doo-doo the first 40 games.

Bad news is Soto is out with a bad elbow...missed all four games this weekend.  Bummer for him having a nearly league leading year.
Trea Turner still having awesome year.  Batting .362 currently, and actually .430 over the last 15 games and .416 over the last 30  (which means the 1st ten games were not great)

I believe has a huge streak of games of being on base...but I can't find that info anywhere.
He had a 14 game hit streak which was broken last week, but he has hits in all of the last 5 games and I'm pretty sure he still has the on-base streak going.

Go Nats.

Who's anyone pulling for in the Stanley Cup playoffs?

I have virtually no interest.  Think I've watched maybe few minutes of games here and there since the Caps lost.

I typically don't watch a lot after the Caps are gone, but this year I am especially....less than interested.

I have zero interest in the NHL right now as well, or any other sport for that matter. They can all go to hell or China.
Be careful what you ask for America; you just might get it.

WTF?  NATS won TWO in a ROW!!!

Two dancing bananas for that.

And against the best team in the American League again - Tampa Bay

Soto returned after missing 5 games with sore elbow, went 1-2 with an RBI and two intentional walks  (I'd walk that guy too)

Decent starting and relief pitching, and a good closer.  (I think I see a key to winning here)  That, and the Nats actually got hits when had men on base instead of stranding them like they've been doing.  5 runs on 7 hits.
Actually....boxscore shows Nats did leave 13 LOB, so that's not great, but they DID manage to drive in some runs.
Although not sure how we had 13 Left on Base when we had only 7 hits and 4 walks and no errors by Tampa....and 5 of those runners scored?  7 hits and 4 walks is 11 base runners minus 5 scoring leaves 6 LOB.  The math doesn't add up.  I'm guessing there must have been a bunch of FC or something?

Trea Turner gets another double, another RBI, stolen base, etc, etc.

Lots of chipping in from utility guys all over, so all around well played game.

Honorable mention:  Brock Holt - aka "the Brock Star"  is 10 for last 13 and has helped win games with his hitting of late.  Pretty much a utility guy who the Nats picked up 2-3 weeks ago for some unknown reason, but he's filled in for Soto in LF (even though he's kind of a utility infielder).  He is batting over .400 as a Nat in limited games played.

SO.......me NOT be the Biggest baseball fan (although I played my entire young life)....I did NOT realize the MLB changed the playoff guidelines for THIS shortened season.
Typically there are 10 teams...The division leader from each of 6 divisions and then a 1-game playoff for two pairs of the four top wild card teams to decide the final two teams for the division series of 8 teams

This year the MLB has expanded the playoffs to 16 teams, with the top TWO teams from each Division getting in along with four wild card teams.  The difference is the wildcard teams will actually be IN a round with equal chance to advance (not a 1-game wildcard winner entry)  This seams extremely generous doubling the amount of teams that actually make the playoffs, but okay.

SO..what this means for the NATS is.....

the season is still over  :raspberry:

But, in reality the NATS would only need to win probably like 90% of their remaining 19 games to have a shot of just missing the wildcard spot instead of needing to win 100% of all 21 games in a row to end up just a tad short.

Nats are 5.0 games back from a WILDCARD spot with 19 games to play.  Their are six teams (excluding the top six teams - already in at #1 & #2 in each division) in the NL ahead of Nats with better chances to make the wildcard.  Or more succinctly, only two teams in the NL have a worse record or worse chance than the Nats (Pittsburgh, Arizona)

Well the good news is the NATS did not lose last night....since there was no game (a very rare day off) and are NOW 4.5 games out of a distant wildcard spot (and 6.0 back from Philty for 2nd in division and 8.0 games back of #1 Braves)

The bad news is they start a series with the Braves...who always seem to have the better of the Nats, but we shall see.

It appears the Nats need to get to about .525 winning percentage to have a chance at a wild card spot....which means they need to win a total of 31 or 32 games this season.
They need to win 15 out of 19 remaining games to have 31 wins on the season

And the Fat lady is warming up for her performance...SOON

Well I don't know what the NATS ate, but they scored 3 in the 1st and 2 in the second inning already vs the Braves.
Not sure who is pitching for Braves, but the Nats' hits have been....Eaton Single, Turner Triple, Soto Double, Cabrera Triples to make it 3-0 in the first.  Then in the second - Taylor double, Eaton HR., Turner walks, then steals second.  Then intentional walk to Soto, the Cabrera walks and Harrision grounds out with bases loaded.

I guess the Braves used up their energy last night when they beat the Marlins 29-9.  (yes that was an actual baseball score)

Now 5-4 in the 5th.

Fucking Nats pitching just sucks ass.  We have 1 great starter, 1 really good (corbin) but NOTHING in the middle if the starter doesn't go 7

Why in the FUCK would you pitch to Freddie Freeman with 1st base open?  SO he can hit a fucking 2run HR on your dumb ass...that's why!
Freeman is probably the most dangerous hitter in baseball.  Fucking weak ass-shitty, stupid pitching.  Pitching is not strong enough to get him out and not smart enough to throw around him.

And we STARTED Austin Voth?  Is this all we have?  Guy is 0-5 in 7 games with 8.26 ERA.  He's started 7 games and pitched a total of 28 innings....which means he's usually in there just long enough to earn a loss?  WTF Nats?  Why would you start this guy?

I guess when you spend all your money on a starter who is injured 40% of the time, you have to scrape the bottom of the barrel for your bottom 2 starters.

For fuck sake - the Nats posted him a 5-0 lead

It was obvious the Capitals were not much into the screwy CoronaCup this year, but I don't blame them a bit.  The whole idea of playing in a single arena bubble with no fans was a joke, especially for the playoffs. I am sure I would have done the same.

All the major sport leagues are run by communist turds and I wonder how much bearing that had on the players too. Sure they don't dare speak out lest they lose their lucrative gigs, but I expect the stench is pretty bad for most of the players.
I honestly find it hard to see myself caring about any of the leagues again.  How are they stupid enough to shit where they eat?  Especially surprising when it is abundantly clear to anyone with an active duty brain that America is rejecting the fuck out of their Marxist dreams.
Be careful what you ask for America; you just might get it.

Okay....the NATS ARE FUCKING RETARDED!!!!

fucking tied 6-6.  You bring in a pitcher in the 6th who allows NO RUNS, so by all means, take him out to start the next inning so the next fucking MORON can give up a hit, then grounder for double play (GREAT) and then WALK the next guy which puts a guy on WITH TWO OUTS and you FUCKING PITCH TO FREDDIE FREEMAN... AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!
AND HE HITS ANOTHER 2-run HOMER.  Fucking NATS deserve to fucking lose.  TWO OUTS.  DON'T GIVE HIM A PITCH TO HIT YOU FUCKING

I mean Freeman is a great hitter, but beyond that...the fucking guy is on fire right now.  Just got his 1500th hit last night (ahem...HOME RUN).  He's batting like .423 in his last 10 games, he's ALREADY hit you for a 2-run shot tonight, and you FUCKING RETARDS pitch to him with TWO OUTS and a guy on when you are leading by 2?  WTF?

STUPID, STUPID, STUPID

Didn't expect Carter Keiboom to fill Rendon's shoes, but he ain't even shopping in the same shoe store.

Keiboom needs to go back to AAA and learn how to hit a baseball.   .191 average this year and his "career" is .175???

And...another inning started so ANOTHER pitching change for the NATS, and ANOTHER HR for the Braves making it 7-6

Fucking Nats are a  :clown:  show

or a  :poop: show.

Nats have used 7 pitchers in 7-1/3 innings.  And the starter lasted 4.1

Horrible bullpen.  Horrible.

I bet Max can't wait till his contract is up.  He's a super competitive guy and this team has to be killing him this year.

Oh, by the way....

The Nats still SUCK!  THey lost 3 and won 1 over the weekend.  SHocker.

Corbin is thinking....WTF did I sign with this outfit?  I pitch a good game and allow only 2 runs against probably the best offense in the league and my team scores me ONE FUCKING RUN?

Go Skins!!  I mean Go....WTF is the name of the football team here?  I see they managed a miracle and came back and beat the Eagles (a team with a real name).  I was NOT surprised to see they were down 17-0, but was very surprised when I happened to see them up by 10 with like 2 minutes left.

How about we just call them the DC Riot!  That'd be fitting for this shitty city.
