I find this a little bizzarre.
On one hand it appears obvious that this is just a knee jerk reaction and there was absolutely no intent to injure, maim or harm.
On the other hand, this is not this guys first rodeo. This wasn't his first ever game of hockey, ever.
You don't get to play in the NHL overnight. As part of the learning and coaching and coming up through the ranks, one of the first things they learn about, even as kids is SAFETY first, right? You're taught about the dangers of blades.
Am I wrong?
As innocuous as this first seems to be, it is actually incredibly dangerous.
This wasn't an accident, like your occasional high stick, this was a deliberate movement. This fella obvously can't control himself and is therefore a danger to other players.
