When do we start counting our playoff chickens?  Most teams have about 13 games remaining to play

Philthy has now won 9 in a row.  Pretty damn hot
Most everyone else currently in the East playoff picture is pretty damn bad in the last ten games for teams wanting to make a playoff run.  Most actually worse than the Caps lately...which is why we are still in 1st in the division.

The last ten games played...
Hens:  2-8-0  total 4 points
Columbus:  3-4-3  total 9 points
Tampa:  4-5-1  total 9 points
Toronto:  4-5-1  total 9 points
Carolina:  4-4-2  total 10 points
CAPS:  4-3-3  total 11 points
Boston:  7-3-0  total 14 points
Philthy:  9-1-0  total 18 points

Teams barely outside wanting in are not doing much better:

Islanders:  2-5-3  total 7 points  (79 standings points same as Carolina, but fewer Regulation Wins (24 RW)
Florida:  4-4-2  total 10 points (78 standings points, 30 RW)
Rangers:  6-4-0  total 12 points (76 standings points, 30 RW)
Islanders and Carolina have played 2 fewer games than everyone else

Thankfully, the rest of the league has been as bad as we have lately so our "slump" isn't hurting our standings that much.  (Do you call it a slump when you earn more than 50% of the available points?)  I guess when you are used to 60% winning then yes
Actually the whole league has been mediocre lately with the exception of 3-4 teams.  Philthy, Vegas, Minnesota, Boston.  And the Kings believe it or not, but they are worst in the west still but have won six in a row...not that it will help them.

Jesus, Detroit has 39 total points on the season (and have won 2 in a row).  No other team in the league has less than 62 points.

Not sure if I should be happy we have relatively weak opponents the next two games or not.  Caps never seem to bring it for those games.  We certainly did not play well against Buffalo (unless you judge by hearing Coach Rearend's after-game press conference)
Detroit is horrible (sorry DC) but they have won two in a row.  That tells me they are due for a loss.  Actually Chicago isn't bad...they are barley over .500 and desperately need to win if they have a hope at playoffs.  They are about 7-8 points out with 13 games remaining.

4 of Caps' 13 remaining games are against teams with no hope.....meaning 9/13 remaining games will matter (at least to the OPPONENT)  so I hope we wake up and get into a playoff rythum.

And....It IS named  "The dedicated boredom thread for Rich" for good reason

am I the only one here that goes to Reading the first weekend of June??..

well, not every year, more like ever 2 or 3.
If you haven’t been, I couldn’t recommend it highly enough, and be sure to save for the plane rides, the bombers are expensive but worth every penny ...

Definitely the standard camo.

you must be there on Friday when the column rolls out to “liberate” downtown Reading, and the main air show is sat-sun.

it’s one thing to see all this is a museum, but to see it, hear it, smell it operating is something else entirely

the nba said it’s because a player tested positive, so, I’m assuming as long as hockey players don’t get this flu, the show will go on.....

King Arthur most likely was a real person, but, he lived during a time of wooden forts, not stone castles

Hey Mick, you're a NASCRAP fan, and obviously old enough, you remember this one?...

I was actually down there that weekend, but for the Cup race, Bush didn't really interest me at the time, so we weren't at the track when that happened. That and I had to bribe the then fiancé so she would go, I went antiquing Saturday so she would tolerate the race on Sunday. She probably would've enjoyed the races more if not for the drunk rednecks, I can say that because I were one

How the heck did he survive that?   I know a little bit about NASCAR and I once use to race it on the early versions of NASCAR on the computer. EA Sports I think it was. I remember Bristol was a small tight track with relatively slow speeds. I imagine at any other track the outcome would have been far worse.

Oh yea, I remember it! How did he survive? Gods grace and luck.. Bristol had at least one other similar crash in that spot, due to the gate that allows haulers into the track.. He hit it at exactly the spot where it opened and it tore his car in half. I haven't watched the youtube, but iirc you can see his legs touching the asphalt after the crash..  Any number of roll bars, fence posts, etc. could of easily pierced him and killed him instantly.. And Bristol with it's 30+ degree banking is the fastest half mile race track in the world, as far as I know. Easily going over 100mph coming off the corners. You want to get a feel for how fast these cars are going, go to a local 3/8 mile short track (with far less banking) and see how fast they're going!! With the smell of racing fuel and the sound of a racing V8, it's nearly impossible to attend a live stock car race (anywhere) and not instantly become a fan!  :uh-huh:

I've read Koontz, and if I recall correctly it was about alien spores coating and covering and infecting humans.
He likes this type of thing.

interesting coincidence...
