Jay Bouwmeester collapsed on the bench during the Blues/Ducks game tonight.

Anaheim's doctors and training staff acted fast and did chest compressions on him and were able to revive him.

He was alert and responsive in the ambulance on way to hospital.

The game has been postponed.
Damn, that sucks.   Hope hell be ok and get back in the lineup.

Same thing happened to Jiri Fisher years ago, poor guy never played in the NHL again.

one report I saw said they actually used a defibrillator on him, that's not good. This did happen during their dads road trip, and his dad was there

He is alert and responsive, his dad was with him in the ambulance.

Captain Alex Pietrangelo visited him in the hospital and facetimed the rest of the team, which then relieved them and then they flew out to las vegas...they didnt fly out of anaheim until they knew he was ok.

They are still running tests as it was a "cardiac episode" much like what Rich Peverly suffered on the Dallas Stars in 2014, the difference being Peverly/Stars knew of his pre-existing heart issues.

This is just a bizarre thing for a healthy 36yr old man. But he is in good spirits so thats the positive news

Its bizzare yes, but not unheard of, even in that age group.

There are issues that wont show up on routine physicals, as they can be asymptotic and wont show without highly evasive and expensive tests or even labs.. They are also not medically medically necessary for probably about 90 or more percent of the population.

More than likely, as he is a pro-athlete, it was an electrical issue which probably caused an AFIB.

Typically, they want to put an ICD, which I doubt hed be able to continue to playing.

Again, this just speculation

Yeah, and the last two players this happened to, Jiri Fischer in 2005 and Rich Peverly 2014, were both younger and retired due to it. So I wish the best for JBo and if he does retire, that hurts the Blues BUT I wont resent him for it. We are all HUMANS FIRST then sports fans/players

koala poop smells like eucalyptus.....

and, they are related to kangaroo, not bears

I was talking to a guy from Australia one time, somehow kangaroo came up. So I said, a roo will ef you up if you corner it. He agrees, and says why would you corner it. I said for lunch of course. He says roo is avalible in the supermarket so there is no reason to corner a roo.  :-|

Ok, but not everybody wants to rely on the supermarket

Same rule they used on Hathy (was it Hathaway) for spitting possibly? Gotta be the same punishment or worse.. One wrong move there and you could have your throat cut.

I find this a little bizzarre.
On one hand it appears obvious that this is just a knee jerk reaction and there was absolutely no intent to injure, maim or harm.

On the other hand, this is not this guys first rodeo.  This wasn't his first ever game of hockey, ever.

You don't get to play in the NHL overnight.  As part of the learning and coaching and coming up through the ranks, one of the first things they learn about, even as kids is SAFETY first, right?  You're taught about the dangers of blades.

Am I wrong?
As innocuous as this first seems to be, it is actually incredibly dangerous.
This wasn't an accident, like your occasional high stick, this was a deliberate movement.   This fella obvously can't control himself and is therefore a danger to other players.

Okay, so I had to post that first, before either myself or my computer did anything stupid....  again....   and deleted everything.   ::)
The fact that this falla's only been given 7 gmes for this, I assume because he has a pretty clean rrecrd previously...???
I know the players are padded up, mostly, but, as Micky said,  one slip...
Wouldn't be the first time.   :-(

apparently a little know fact; the swastika has been widely used by Hindus and Buddhists for centuries, and still is in use today. The nazi's corrupted it.

fun historical fact  :-|  :

Hiltler cut his mustache that way because of his experience in the trenches of WWI, he suffered injuries during a gas attack because his gas mask didn't seal on his mustache at the time, it was the typical wide early 1900s style.

I like learning about history, I've read a few things about hitler and stalin, Stalin was a psychopath, Patton was right about him.
