I don't recall hearing this before, was just mentioned as the radio broadcast wraped up. This is Trotz's second championship with this organization.....

In the midst of all this celebration, the reality for this organization.  In the next 3 weeks they have to (1) begin to unravel the mystery that is the future of Barry Trotz; (2) figure out if they are going to try to resign Carlson, or maybe realize he is going to UFA; (3) participate in the NHL draft; and (4) prepare for the UFA signing period, which becomes more important if Carlson is indeed gone.


Precious little time to celebrate and rest on one's laurels.

Night all!  Watching as long as there are broadcasts tonight! 
Looking forward to non-stop Capsfest tomorrow on tv and on radio.  Seeing "Stanley Cup Champions" next to the Caps' logo and name on tv is great. 
Will check in for discussions about the parade, etc., coming up in the next few days but will say here that I am very glad (Stanley Cup or not) I found this forum again this spring; I so enjoyed chatting throughout the playoffs.  It made the happy experience of watching this really great sport even better for me.

I think this series will come down to coaching, preparation, and strategy.  The Caps have the nuts to win if the focus is 100% and well thought out. If we are not as physical as we've ever been and more then it could be really tough. Striking first will be huge too. If we strike quickly we can deflate the Knight's ego and confidence.

I really believe we got this if we want it and I think we want it more than Vegas.  Game 1 can go either way and it's still anyone's Cup. It may take us a game to refine our strategy, but I'm confident we will regardless the outcome of this game.

This is not the Caps team of years past.  I say we might lose the first game and take the next four. Caps in 5. Although it would be nice to finish at home in Game 6.



BTW, Vegas is like my second home.  My Dad lives there and my Son and I used to go there at least once per year for a week to help my Dad manage his Las Vegas Marathon, which was his creation and a huge event.  We got to enjoy the best of everything in Vegas.  A fun place to visit, but I would not want to live there.

I found my pre-Game1 post predicting precisely the outcome of the series.  I'll say it again. Most years I am a nervous wreck in the post season.I'm so invested in this team emotionally that I usually stress about it.  This year I was calm and confident like no other. You could just see it coming together and when I watched Vegas play I knew we would shut them down like we did everyone else and that we had an additional advantage over Vegas; they were not used to adversity and that gave us an additional edge.
