Last night's Avs/Oilers game was a stinker.  I mean it was closer to playoff hockey, but it was down right boring.  Edmonton just looked tired and disinterested.  I don't know how they can be tired, but that's what they looked like.
 Shutout by the backup GT     I mean what happened to the Oilers O?  I knew they were suspect in net and they KEEP proving that, but last night they looked like a losing team for the first time.  I mean they just didn't have their hearts in it.  It was like a couple weak goals finally let all the wind out of them and they just accepted it.  Ugly game to watch.  No flow.  Too much stopping.  Edmonton struggles out of own zone, can't muster any forecheck, nothing. 


The Rags on the other hand...Jesus, they are taking themselves seriously and Tampa obviously was not.  I guess 9 days off isn't good for game prep.
I expect TBL will show up next game, and as someone said....I think Tampa takes it again.  I really hoped Edmonton would ride some kind of miracle GT into the promise land but they just quit playing.  They sure as shit didn't look like the team that beat Calgary.  I guess Edmonton is only good at beating Alberta squads.


I hate routing for the Rags, but I'm about tired of Tampa Bay

Sadly, I dont think the old bird is going to last much longer.
I say, "old bird", in humour, but that belies the huge respect I have for her and her total and utter dedication and service.  Her grace, her dignity,  her humour and her humanity.

God knows, our monarchy have enough black sheep to fill a field and then some, including present day.   Not her.

She is an outstanding woman.  An outstanding human being.  I am very sad that she can't attend many of the celebrations this weekend.
She is our Standard.  Our heart.  Our conscience.
She has always been what Unites us and what makes us Great.

well Edmonton shit the bed again last night.  So disappointed in them.  Really thought they had more going for them.
For God sake they need a goalie.  Smith has showed some spots of great play and then just lets in one you HAVE TO HAVE.  Not his fault, but at some point you HAVE to make those stops to give your team a chance.  They already barely have a chance and then when you let in goals you should have....it just exacerbates the problem further.


Not sure what happened to Tampa either, but I'd rather see them lose.


Looking like Rangers and Colorado.  Ho-hum.  I can't pull for either of them.

Kane is to have a hearing for the boarding call. 


Did anyone see this?  I saw it.  They gave him a two minute, then got together and discussed and gave it a 5 minute boarding call (I think).  As much as I hate Kane....this was NOT worthy of 5 minutes.  He taps Kadri across the back and he fell into the boards.  Go back and watch it.  Yes, Kane cross checked him across the back with a push.  Yes it was somewhat near the boards and Kadri fell onto the ice and into the boards.  It was not a crushing blow from behind riding him face first into the glass.  It was a push from behind - completely stupid and worth a penalty.  But not 5.  Not worth reviewing.  The five minutes could have very well cost Edmonton the game, but they managed to survive it. - many good stops by the GT (who would fail them later)
Killing off the penalty kept them in the game.
My problem is every announcer immediate started lobbying for a major penalty.  I watched the same play they did and I disagree.  Yes worth a penalty, but there was no violence in it - he didn't drive the guy into the boards, he just pushed him.
They really do want to try and take all the physical play out of the game

If it had been Patrick Kane, I would have thrown the book at him, the dirty little shit.  Evander Kane however...  I think he's a gritty player, but I don't see him as going out of his way to cause any actual damage.

I would encourage any and all of you to watch it.  You don't have to be a fan of our monarchy, or any other for that matter, but if you want to have  good giggle and to turn that frown upside down.. This would be it.

Oh one of the anecdotes that came up was when the Obama's came over.  Apparantly nobody is allowed to drive the President other than the CIA???  The Queen insisted she would pick them up herself.  (The only person allowed to drive in the UK who doesn't have a driving licence)
I think that's the only time that has ever happened.   
 
The Obama's were instructed where to sit.  Then,  her Maj said to them, "Sit where you like.  Sit where you feel comfortable"

I love watching Colorado and think they are one of the best teams I have ever seen.  It occurred to me that there is not a single player on the Caps, that Colorado would take over any of their players.  Maybe they would take Fever or Orlov, but I think that's it.  They wouldn't take Ovie or Oshie - too old and slow.  After realizing that, I got a bit depressed thinking how long it is gonna take for the Caps to turnover and rebuild this team.....
