Caps have also hit a wall with  Miroshnichenko. A major decision needs to be made..

couple things noticed in last several games or more...

I like Miro...he SHOOTS the puck.  From anywhere.  His goal the other night was way out on wing against the boards and he spins and fires at the net.
couple times last night...drives the net...SHOOTS the puck.  He WANTS to score.  Please encourage that instinct coaches.  I hope he stays with team next year instead of another year in Hershey.

Lindy is playing very very well.  I wish we could move Kuemper.  I'd rather see Lindy get 55 games next year and youngins & Shep make up the rest. Shep could be a legit NHL backup

Caps should move Jensen or TVR.  If Caps are decided on Bear, then move one of the old guys.  Carlson, Jensen or TVR (and we all know JC going nowhere)  I'd like to see Iorio get some games

FFS move on from Patches.  I dont think he's been terrible, but I'd rather see NAK in the lineup  (both are UFA end of season)

McMike & Malenstyn are both RFA.  I am sure Caps will sign both....curious what McMike will get.  I mean if they gave Protus 3.38m per, McMike might be 4m per yer.
Malenstyn has improved greatly this year...probably more than any other player.  Lappy and McMike both have too, but Malenstyn has just grown so much this year.  good wheels, drives the net, hustles after the puck, forchecks, great PK guy.
FFS - HIT HIM!!!

With the win, Caps now 1pt behind Wings for WC spot and Caps have 1 game in hand.  Sadly the wings play Buffalo (wings won), Pittsburgh, Columbus, Islanders next 4 games
Wings play Hens today.  Go Shittsburgh!

There' a lot to like about Miro. He's got size, has jam in his game. Is an excellent creator/passer as well as a shooter! Looking forward to his future! (Doubt he ever sees Hershey again, unless he's recovering from something) Coach was speaking very highly of him after the game last night. "Not just a young player getting his feet wet, he's earning his ice time"

Well Wings and Isles both lost so that's good for Caps
Caps (73) 1 pt behind Wings (74) for last WC spot.  Caps have 2 games in hand vs Wings
Isles tied with Caps with 73 pts, Caps 1 game in hand

A win tonight will move the Caps into the WC spot

I agree on Malenstyn. He is becoming my favorite player.  Hopefully he can convert more of his chances into goals.  Apparently he drew some interest at the trade deadline which ought to tell Caps management something. I hope they lock him up on a 5 year deal.

Lappie is also really coming on and you can see his confidence grow by the game.  He has some skills and could develop into a 25 goal scorer.  He and McMike would be even further along if we didn't have that jackass Laviollete as coach last year.  I'm really hoping the Rangers get knocked out in the first round.

Miro is really interesting. I like his effort and he goes to the net.  Not sure I see the size yet, but maybe he still grows a little and puts on some muscle - although he seems to be holding his own now.

That was tough to watch.  Bristol is absolutely one of my favorite tracks.  Apparently NASCAR told Goodyear to build more tire failure into their tires to improve the racing, and put more emphasis on the driver and team to manage things.  But yesterday was trash.  Tires wore out way too quickly. That pissed me off, but nothing like that turd Hamlin winning.  Hamlin is the new [championship-less] Kyle Busch.

On the plus side, MTJ came in second.

Yes i thought when i first heard of him...he was good size, but he appears small on the ice.  They have him listed at 6'1", 185lbs.  I am sure he will ad a little muscle, but he looked short to me the other night.  He does hit though, and does not appear to get pushed around.  I wonder what he was standing on when they measured that 6'-1"  :snicker:

But yesterday was trash.

Best short track race in years, maybe decades!! Hope they don't change a thing and let teams adjust to the tire wear! (Doubtful, they'll probably come with a tire they can run all 500 laps on next)  :snicker:

Naw, that was trash.  There's been a couple of night races in the last few years [Hamlin vs Chase and Harvick vs Chase] that were better than yesterday  Only 5 drivers on the lead lap when the race ended? [First time that's happened in decades].

You're right though in that there's no chance that Goodyear doesn't address the tire wear.  I think they had the right idea when they asked Goodyear to bring a tire that will wear down more than the tires in the past; they just went overboard.

The best part of the race was seeing Bristol without the dirt.  Cute concept and a throwback to NASCAR's dirt track history, but Bristol is such an awesome track it doesn't need gimmickry.

Just to annoy the non-NASCAR fans, what's your thoughts on the road courses and the street racing?   It's taken a while, but I am warming up to drivers having to turn left AND right.  Watkins Glen and Sonoma bring out a different skillset, as does the ROVAL and Indy road course.  The street race in Chicago was a disaster last year but that can be blamed on the weather.  It'll be interesting to see how it goes this year.

Im a fan of turning right, just not as often as nascar has adopted. Give me Sonoma, The Glen and like a Road Atlanta, Road America or Canada Tire and Im good. The roval is criminal imo, as it takes away the fall 500 at Charlotte and is basically a go-kart/miata mx5 track. COTA is an F1 track that I don't particularly care for due to huge run off zones everywhere. Chicago will be a follow the leader spectacle, unless it rains every race.. (then again, with this nextgen car, that's pretty much all the RC's.)

Would much rather see them back at Rockingham, North Wilkesboro, Nashville Fairgrounds, Chicagoland, Dover a 2nd date, etc.

But yea, Im an old school short track, save your stuff to make it to the end, style of racing fan. Be it brakes, motors, tires, fuel. Today's normal -every lap is a qualifying lap- doesn't do much for me. Nothing bums me out more than seeing those brake rotors glowing bright red from lap 10 on and rarely/never even a brake or tire failure.

That’s carbon fiber brakes. They have to be hot to work well, and they last longer.

Street racing can work given the right circuit. But I haven’t seen one yet for nascar. Monaco is the only good one I know of. I don’t mind a few road races mixed in to turning left all the time. But the roval, street racing, hub mount wheels, trans axle, electronics, all are trying to attract the F1/Indy car fan while alienating the nascar fan. If they are running tech the average fan can’t afford and doesn’t understand they lose the average fan. I get going to overhead cam motors, and even fuel injection to a point. The rest is just dumb. TV ratings and race attendance the last 10 years shows it. NASCAR did get a boost during covid because they were the only game on the continent, but that boost is petering off.

The cookie cutter mile and a half’s didn’t help either. The Indy oval is completely different from Daytona or Dega. Personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing a couple more tracks like Richmond. About 3/4 to a mile. The car has to corner well and accelerate well to do well.

Nascar still uses cast iron rotors. But these (Cup) rotors are huge due to the 18" wheel/brake package.

They have Iowa. Basically a carbon copy of RIR. Just not enough stands/facility (apparently) to support a Cup race.

Have we secretly hired "The Goalie Whisperer" back again?
WHO has picked up this old second rate back up and transformed him into the second coming of Braden Holtby.

LINDBEAST.   WOW!

There's nothing to be done about Kuemper.  He's just too slow.    A lesson for all you ageist people out there.    :raspberry:

Scott Murray, it’s his 7th season as the Caps goalie coach.

Didn't he train under "The Goalie Whisperer"  ?   When he was here for Braden?  Was that him?  I know there were a couple.

If he’s been here for 7 years he must’ve been an assistant under Korn, I don’t remember for sure
