What a drag. Fucking Vegas.
I watched the game and honestly thought Oilers had the better of the play a much larger portion of the game. Both teams had chances, but most of the play was in Vegas zone. They did clog up the middle zones pretty well, but Edmonton spent more than their share of time in Vegas zone - just couldn't score. Not blaming goalies here, but 4 fucking goals on 15 shots doesn't cut it (okay, I'm blaming the goalies here). Vegas goalie had some real ten bellers in this game though. Other than the first 3 minutes, he played excellent. How many times did Edmonton pull their starting goalie in this series...or this playoffs? WAY TOO MANY.
Hockey gods certainly were not smiling on Edmonton last night either. Lots and lots of chances, but several posts (and many good saves) but no bounces really going their way.
If Edmonton had a real goalie (and Skinner may eventually become it) they could really dominate.
McDavid and Draisaitl are certainly young enough, and I expect much more to come from them, but this feels a little like Ovi and the Caps missing on their best Cup chance years. I know Oilers made some moves at trade time to get some more D in, and not sure how many they can afford to keep, but they had a pretty solid squad going into the playoffs this year. I think goal tending ultimately let them down, (as I believe it did last year). Nobody was solid for more than a game or two at a time.
Didn't help Oilers scored twice (on their first 2 shots)in the first 3 minutes (2:43) of the game and then shutout for 57 minutes in an elimination game.
I watched the entire game and Oilers had many many good quality scoring chances, and outshot Vegas like 41 to 20 or something, but if you watch the condensed highlights, it appears Vegas was the dominate team. They show like 15 scoring chances for Vegas (4 of which were actually goals) and only like 10-12 for Edmonton, but that is not how the game went. Ultimately the final result, but makes me think the NHL is editing the highlight to show what they want to portray (or promote), not what actually occurred in the game. Which I think is ....well shitty. I don't like it no matter who the victor is. FFS it's not a reality TV show. Well I hope that's not what it's becoming anyway.
And what Mick said....Vegas and Seattle - fuck that. Maybe I'm an embittered old Cap fan, but that's some BS. Don't turn it into all about marketing and promotion....Leave SOME of it as real hockey.
Fuck Vegas.
Sin city and Commie land? That would be a Great Western Final. You think those tree hugging coffee Nazis refrigerate that ice at climate pledge arena with solar power? I bet not.
I sure as shit hope the climate killing oil pumping Dallas team can beat Seattle. I don't think I can watch Vegas and Seattle. I can't root for either team.
Sorry...didn't mean to go all right wing political, but FUCK VEGAS and SEATTLE.
