Garage56 (Nascar) Chevrolet Camaro at Le Mans wins the GTE pit stop challenge, using a manual floor jack. Is 5 seconds a lap faster than any GTE car in practice and now holds the lead of all GTE cars 90 minutes into the 24 hour race. (Looks like they dialed it back, probably for reliability, as they're only turning laps AS fast as the other cars now.) Funnier is the FIA doesn't seem to give a shit an American NASCAR entry is in the race, as I've been watching and only seen it once, during the safety car session/caution after the lap 1 crash. Fucking jealous foreigners.  :raised-eyebrow: :snicker:

.... and it's in the garage. Only made it around 4 hours. :-(

From what I’ve read, the nascar entry is not in any class thus can’t win in any class. It’s considered an “experimental” entry. About 4:30 pm eastern they completed lap 71, which was a bit over 600 miles.

Fucking jealous foreigners. :raised-eyebrow: :snicker:

Most of them still haven’t gotten over Ford winning four in a row in the late 1960s.

underneath the livestream that I’m not signing up for is the live leaderboard.. position, laps run, last lap time, best lap time.

You can watch the incar from youtube if desired. They're not in a "class" but they're based around similar specs as the GTE cars. (basically a bragging rights deal)

Apparently the garage stop was just to inspect the car for any debris damage, after being behind a crash. Went to watch nascar and haven't been keeping up, but during the qualifying broadcast they showed a tweet from HMS saying they were running the leading GTE cars back down. I guess Jimmie Johnson was behind the wheel. (I expect him to crash the thing, but we'll see) lol

I have noticed through on board shots with the various cars, hyper/LMP cars have at least a 7 speed trans, the GTE cars have at least a 6 speed trans, the nascar/camero only has a 5 speed. I wonder if this car would do a little better with a 6th gear.

Surprised they didn't (well, maybe they did) try a 6 spd. This isn't supposed to be any "help" for the Cup series, so no reason to stick with the 5 spd if it's not the fastest. But it's Rick Hendrick. He's not out there for his health. They'll learn all kinds of shit (for the cup series) Im sure.

Oh well, Panthers look to be toast.

somewhere close to 10pm eastern, the nascar/camero ripped a 3:50.9 lap, at this point it is 2nd “in class”

it’s sunrise in Le Mans

Sometime after I went to sleep they ran a 3:50.7 lap. But they’ve been in the garage for the last 20 with “gearbox issues”.

Yea, I turned it off overnight. Saw this morning that they had gearbox issues. Goal is still to "finish" as per Chad Knaus tweet. Pretty solid run I guess, for their 1st attempt.

edit: Saw where they finished 39th overall. Had the speed to dominate anything in the GTE class. The guys who build the C8 Corvette are thrilled I imagine.   Even saw it run down, pass and gap a LMP2 car.  Must of been down on power or something..

The Le Mans governing body is revamping the rules next year for car classes. I assume what we know as GTE/3 will still be around. If this car qualifies for a class next year I’d think it would benefit from a 6 speed gearbox to better use the rpm range in the twisty parts of the track. I bet it would easily shave a couple seconds off lap times from what I saw. That car lost a lot of ground on a few turns because the engine wasn’t in a good rpm range. And maybe if they’d run Daytona and Sebring they might get the bugs worked out before Le Mans. But 250ish laps before breaking isn’t bad, especially in a new car. My rough math says they went over 2100 miles before breaking something.

Hershey plays game 3 Tuesday, 4 Thursday, 5 Saturday at home at 7pm.

They don't/can't run Daytona and Sebring because IMSA doesn't have that experimental class for them to enter. Every year there's talk about IMSA and FIA ironing out the rules difference so they (Prototype/Hypercar/GT3) can cross over series, but far as I know it's mostly been hot air. Im gonna try and find out why they didn't run a 6 speed like the gte's. Soon as nascar announced the deal with HMS to run the 24H race everyone was like "Oh cool, no testing in nascar but HMS gets to do a 24 hour race in their car".. They kept saying there was not going to be any advantage learned or gained by doing it. lol

Vegas is going to win, though.  They're clearly the better team.  Be nice if we still had Chandler.

Is Anyone surprised by this?  Not sure what will come of it though.  Going to be really expensive no matter what kind of rabbits GM has hiding in his butt hat.

Oof.  At least it was close  ::)

You know when you struggle to score and you allow a shortie to break the 0-0 tie....it ain't going your way.
Bob didn't look great.  Vegas was all over them all night.

I have no idea how you allow that second Vegas goal.  Goalie covers it in the crease and two guys jab at it until it comes loose.  Should have been a whistle there.  Not that one goal would have mattered.
