Saw that Tommy had a Gordie today vs France. lol Not much of a fight though. Looked like he was not wanting to get suspended.

I’ve been looking around, pretty sure that’s the first Olympic Gordie.

Technically, per the rules, Wilson could have gotten further punishment for that. It is optional, anything from a one game suspension to ejected from the games. I suspect Wilson didn’t get anything more because he didn’t start it, vs a known trouble maker who did. The other guy has quite a reputation in the French league.

I was wondering...about how often someone get's a Gordie in the Olympics...although I watched most of that game and I didn't see the assist.
The "fight" looked like Tom was trying NOT to throw punches.  Fuck it, if you get suspended for getting jumped and dropping your gloves to hold on, you might as well hit that fucker.
Canada looks pretty damn good. USA does too, but Canada is loaded with scorers.
All that extra room with the bigger ice really makes the PP a bigger threat - so much room to move around, hard to pin guys and steal the puck.  Also just makes it a bit harder to hit guys with all that room to move around.

Game I watched, USA vs Lars Ellar. Looked like the ice was half the size of NHL rinks? Couldn't figure out how they'd get any room at all.

Canada is the best team that has ever been assembled. I am afraid they will handle the US pretty easily. LT looked great and I think he clearly outplayed Binnington, but I guess they will stick with him.

Celebrini is unbelievable at his age.  Bedard got all the hype the year he came out compared to Celebrini - but Celebrini is way better. Gonna be a superstar for a lot of years.

Daytona/Talladega/Atlanta are now jokes of a race. Nobody actually "wins" those anymore. Not like Dale went through. Actually leading the race most of the day, with the best car, only to lose on the last laps due to flat tire or part failure or something. Now you just hang around saving gas for 3/4 of the day and hope to get lucky on the last lap. It's arcade quality at best. Eventually nascar will ruin everything in the sport, catering to kids with 2 minute attention spans.

Slovakia beat Germany 6-2 today.  Slovakia has been a bit of a surprise; upsetting Finland 4-1 in the prelim round.  They are now 3-1 and in 5th place
No surprise Canada and USA are 1 and 2, with Finland and Sweden at 3 and 4
(Finland beat Sweden so are ranked higher despite 1 fewer game/win)

I'm curious how they decided on the groupings A, B, C because group B has Sweden, Finland, Slovakia (and Italy) - 3 tough teams and basically what I'd consider contenders (at least as runner up to Canada, USA), whereas Group A has Canada, Switzerland, Czechia, France, and Group C; USA, Germany, Latvia, Denmark.
No real contenders in Groups A or C (besides the top 2).  Did they do this intentionally to make sure Canada and USA advanced?

USA plays Sweden today at 3:15 - could be a tough match.  I believe it will be broadcast on TNT

All 25 players on team Sweden is NHL player, same for Canada, USA, with Finland having 24/25 nhl players, Slovakia has 7 NHLers
I didn't realize Sweden and Finland squads were that loaded with NHL talent, figuring at least a few guys would come from their elite leagues.

I was really hoping Canada would lose today. Tomorrow at 1pm is the women’s gold medal game, Canada vs USA.

One of the keys to Slovakia's success has been the play of Fehervary.  He is the team's TOI leader, and has apparently been playing fantastic.

I wonder if success like this can be an adrenaline rush that carries over to the rest of the NHL season?

Team USA beat Slovakia 6-2 to advance to the gold medal game against Canadia, Sunday morning. It appears the game will be at 8am local time. The bronze medal game, Slovakia vs Finland is Saturday, 2:40pm eastern.

Hi all, I would like to join up for a Caps game. l don't know how to watch. Are there still good links with HD quality available, or do I need to get a monument sports app & subscription or something. I'll try to join the first one after they return from the Olympics. I haven't watched a hockey game since the BLM delay years ago until these Olympics.I hope everyone is doing well.
