Philthy vs Rags  (Rags with 98 pts, with a win would be 1st team to 100pts this season.  Canucks also at 98 lost to Kings last night missing the chance to both clinch playoff spot and 1st to 100pts.)

Boston vs FLA  (battling for 1st place in the Atlantic, both with 97 pts)  Wasn't FLA the last WC team last year, then beat #1 Boston in the first round?

The Caps are off today. I don’t expect any news until the morning skate tomorrow in Toronto.

Last season 27 year old Strome had a career high 23 goals with the Caps in 81 games. This season he’s now got a career high 25 goals in 71 games.

Other than speed, he must not show much other than AHL talent? He's 26. If they had any thoughts of him being an NHL'r he'd of been called up by now, imo.

Well I'm glad to see Iorio get a chance, but not for this reason.  Not sure if he gets in the lineup though...we have 6 D without Bear.
Phillips...thought we were done with this experiment

Hershey has the best record in the AHL by a significant amount.  They also have the best goal differential in the league, and as a result, virtually all the players on the roster have a healthy +/- rating (which I realize has flaws as a predictor of quality of play).  Iorio leads the team in +/- with a +26, one of the highest ratings in the AHL.


Ethan Frank has played 90% of Hershey's games, and I'd have to believe he is playing on an upper line, with his scoring prowess.  BUT, half his goals are on the power play, and his +/- rating, which reflects 5 on 5 play only, is 0.  I wonder if these indicators suggest that he is not especially responsible defensively.  I suspect the first priority for AHL call-ups is, try to do no harm.

Every time they call up Phillips, coach says it's because he's got experience. I get it. Thing about Frank is, we've had numerous chances/needs through the season when they've called up inexperienced forwards and they never call his #.
 
Ice probably solved the riddle. Too bad, I wanted to see the fastest man in the NHL! (Even if he is a shrimp)

In any event, they have to have someone still in Herschey that is better than Phillips!  Hopefully he isn't actually playing.
