on the bright side, the Nats season ends today so there won’t be this stupid musical on which team gets the primary radio coverage

pretty sure their season was over about 4 months ago

and all the remaining games in the MLB (one game for most teams) are completely meaningless

That's 14 forwards and 7 D.  One more than 20 man roster will allow in regular season.

Also...no Nick Dowd in this lineup.

Caps need to still trim 5 guys from the roster for the season.  McMichael better play well - he is waivers exempt so moving him down costs nothing (like Protus).  Looks to me like the Fall guy (Fjallby) might be on the list, along with Snively, Borgstrom, Clark(exempt).  Caps need to cut 5 guys - at least three will have to clear waivers - yikes.
Looks to me like either Protus OR McMichael will make the roster, but not both.  Unless they put Dowd on Waivers, but I don't think they will.

Go Caps

I would prefer to keep Dowd, personally.  McM has been a damp sqib so far.  He's had enough chances to learn and improve and step up.  He's a dud.  Maybe he'll do better elsewhere...

Caps lineup looks pretty strong tonight. 3 or 4 guys is all that won't be starting opening night. Prolly see if I can find a stream for the 1st period.

Had to jump through a bunch of hoops to get a stream. By the time I got it we on a 5-3 PK. Not sure what we did to get the penalties. Wings scored. McNugget ties it in the McNugget minute on a redirect from Ovi.

had the 1st period on the radio, the 5 on 3 started when Strome got a faceoff violation whatever that heck that was, and very shortly after Carlson got call for holding. Even it were the regular season, I’m not overly upset at giving up one when 2 men down. Getting to be 2 men down is the annoying part, but I didn’t see what Strome did.

HELP

Caps.com might have the stream now? Unfortunately, there's little to no chance you could get the one Im watching to work. Have to click/cancel about a hundred spam links before it ever gets to the actual game. It's the 720P link in the streams thread though, if you want to try. (Start by clicking "NHL" once it tells you the link doesn't work) Then the Caps game, then the Capitals box, then keep closing windows and reclicking the stream until it eventually opens.

Hit on Oshie (went into the boards shoulder first) didn't look good at all. At least he went to the bench for a minute, before going down the tunnel..  :-\
Jensen ties it at 2 gettin late in the 2nd period.

Oshie will not return tonight out of an over abundance of caution, mostly because it’s preseason

It’s early, but so far I’m liking Brown and Strome, and I think Protas has earned a spot. Caps next preseason game is Saturday at 7pm. The nhl season starts Friday at 2pm eastern, Preds vs Sharks in Prague.

I watched the game on good old satellite HDTV. Joe & Craig on the local NBCSN or whatever it is now to that NBCSN is gone
Little slow in the first bit boys picked it up. Kuemper looked solid which is nice.
McMichael looked like he wants to stay with the big club. Strohm and Brown making GMBM look like a genius so far. Strohm was like 80% on face offs (which is a fluke) but nice to see a Cap actually winning some. I watched his penalty 19 times in slow mo and not a clue as to what he did to get called
Ovie looks like they had him caged too long - he was hitting all over the ice
Oshie - ohh Fah. Hopefully just a stinger bit it didn’t look good the weird angle he hit the boards.
I saw why Mantha wasn’t out there but what about his counterpart on the Wings. Where was Jake the Snake?
Kuzy sure as hell can skate - looks like he is just toying with peeps out there. Overall looked pretty good. Happy with the solid play of Keumper. Definitely needed that hole filled.
Go Caps

Oh well, another too long, 5+ million dollar contract biting us in the ass.  :-\  Only good thing I saw was he didn't drop his shoulder when he was walking. So hopefully not a collar bone or dislocation. Either way, he's fragile and likely won't be back for a month.

it looks like the impact with the boards was on his right, but when I saw this last night I didn’t like the way he’s holding his left arm ..

I just saw today's presser with coach and TJ is "day to day" for whatever that is worth.  Sounds like it is not anything major, but that he will not play Saturday.
