Thought I read "out long term" from one of the reporters on the Twitt? Hope for the best though..

I heard Lavy say "Long Term" which is why I don't understand him on the "IR" list.  They prolly just do that automatically, because they can change it and make the LTIR start date retroactive to the first day.

My optimistic side (like the one with me and Alexa in it's fantasies) hopes it really is just IR.  My realistic side tells me they will move him to LTIR  :(

McMichael had 8:33 of ice time last night. If he’s going to develop into a decent player he needs ice time to do it. He should be in Hershey for another year instead of having his but stapled to the bench by Lavi.

As bad (okay, old and slow) as this team looks now....Next year - OOF.
We have bunches of guys that are UFA next year and several RFA.  Sadly, none of them are really part of the old/tired problem (except Eller)

7/8 current roster d-men could move  (all except the ONE we NEED to move)
Carlson is locked in for another 3 years after this one.
Orlov, Jensen, TVR, Irwin, Gustafsson are ALL UFA's at end of this season.  Fever is an RFA.  We sure as fuck better sign Fever

Brown is a UFA.  SHeary, Hathaway, Eller, Mojo all UFA's.
Strome is RFA.

In today's market, I don't see Eller getting $3.5 anywhere else (and hopefully not here).  Mojo - meh, take him or leave him at $1m now, but he has to be about done.  Hathaway - basically bargain (1.5m), and kind of depends on whether he wants to go elsewhere I think.  Sheary is a downright bargain at $1.5m.  Hope he stays for that.  Hags is an UFA, but I think he's done either way.

I expect the Backy situation will resolve itself at the end of the year one way or another.  Either he makes it back and is playable by year's end or he's done.  I would hope they don't string it out into next year.  NOt sure what happens with a player's contract and the salary cap if he is unplayable.

So if Backy, Eller, Hags and Mojo are gone next year - that's alot of coin (depending on how Backy deal works) to spend on retooling.  It's early yet, but I'm kind of liking Strome, and definitely Brown - I'd keep both if possible

Curious to see where the D-men end up.  I expect Orlov will stay if we pay him ridiculous money.  TVR, Irwin, Gustafsson are bargain basement salaries.  TVR has been well worth his 950k.  He ain't great, but I'd take eight of him over one Johhny Q. Norris for the same coin any day.  Jensen has been pretty solid, but he is 32.

Alexeyev is an RFA.  He is on the IR (or was at start of this season), but I think he could be a solid guy in the future.

  boredom thread.  Read it and weep.

McMichael scratched...not doing him or the Caps any good.  Might as well send him to Hershey to get playing time.
Although, with this lineup.....who would you sit to play him?  Basically it's him or Snively and I think they think Snively is better on 4th line and I'd agree.
McMichael is a week on forecheck and a waste on 4th line.  I'd say put Mac at 3c and sit Eller, but Eller has played okay this season and is a much better 2-way player.
Hell Sit Carlson and let McMac play D - about the same amount of defensive acumen with the two of them the way Johhny's played this season.
McMac is gonna go by the Vranna category pretty soon....although Vranna has much more speed to burn, but as far as the Caps usage of the player....

most goals in a career, regular season
1: Wayne Gretzky  894
2: Gordie Howe     801
3: Alex Ovechkin   780

most career goals with one team
1: Gordie Howe     786
2: Alex Ovechkin   780

the next record falls with 7 goals

OV has had a slow start, but after the Devils game he has 783 goals. Four more and the next record falls.

I was hoping they'd pull VV and he could get another freebee.

I saw someone say "You can take away Ovi's "offside" goal (last week) if we can review every Gretzky goal and do the same.

Not to be a downer, but the 4 wins this season have all been against bottom half teams - none with better than 50% winning % so far.

Vancouver has yet to win a game 0-5-2 this year.

Dallas will be a real test.  Hope Caps bring their A game....or at least their lucky charms.

I expect a big improvement with the return of Willy and Brown. With Brown’s faceoff ability I’d find room for him.

I read "knee". And yes, for 3.6 mil, he meets the threshold to play (regardless of performance) for this team, whenever he returns. Nobody has said though if long term means weeks, months, or season.  :-\  Any type of surgery for knee ligaments though means season, I do believe.  But again, no word on surgery either?

FWIW - Cap Friendly shows Brown and Wilson on IR and not LTIR.  Not that it means anything.  They can move Brown to LTIR and make it retroactive from day 1 of injury if shit goes south.

I’m surprised Wilson isn’t listed as LTIR with his expected return of December

47 fit in nicely on the 4th but it seems like we are cursed to have only one good center at any given time.  17 shows flashes, but we shall see.  It seemed the coaching staff got on the boys for not really hitting anyone in the last couple because they were throwing the body well vs the Devils.

39 and 59 really need to use their size and finish checks better.
