Last time (week or so ago) I did the "last 10 games" we'd only gained 1 or 2 points on Tampa and Filthy.


Currently, in the last 10, we've gained 6 on both.


They'll have to keep being fucking suck and we'll have to continue to play well, but I guess it's possible..

Okay so not to be the doubting Thomas, but lets be realistic....
This road trip will be disastrous and will end any hopes of a playoff berth this year.   

Last night could legitimately be the beginning of a 7 game losing streak...easily.

When the Caps come home, deflated and embarrassed...they play Toronto, Canes, Jets, Wings...thats probably at least 3 more losses.  So the Caps will likely lose 8 of the next 10 games realistically.  Of course some teams may throw a stinker and we grab a win, but ALL of the next 10 games are against teams that are better than the Caps....and all teams that are legitimately playoff bound or fighting for a spot, so the games matter to them.

So the good news is...the further we sink, the better our draft position, but it is not going to be fun to watch

It's not just about the result for me.
For instance, the Hawks game, I was actually really, REALLY disappointed about the way we played that last period.  Lindy stood on his head all through the Hens game and was great in the Hawks game, but our boys let him down in that third period.   

That should have been another shutout, but our guys just couldnt be bothered.  I would have liked to have seen a bit more effort to get Lindy that reward of another shutout.   That was a "Kuzy" third period.


A 4 - 1 win is a great result, but it should have been 4 - 0.

Shutouts for goalies are as important as goals are to scorers, imho and they can't do it by themselves.

The whole demeanour of the Caps last night exhuded failure, from start to finish, although Lindy was, I thought, once again our best player that game.



We may be up against it on this road trip, but at least let's give them a game.

Yeah well...It sucks cause the Caps are 3 Pts out of 2nd wild card spot with a game in hand.  Win the next one and with even games played they are 1 point away (really 2 cuz the have fewer wins), but 2 points from last wild card or 4 points from WC1 or 3rd in the metro does not sound impossible.
However, looking at their schedule...Ooooh-Faaaah
With 19 games remaining, Caps play 14 of them against teams currently in a playoff spot.  They catch Shittsburgh once, Buffalo twice, and Ottawa once, Calgary once.  These are the only non-playoff team opponents remaining on the schedule

Strength of schedule will kill the Caps playoffs chances, just not their year.  I remember seeing a stat a month ago that the Caps had the hardest remaining schedule of any team!

I just hope they can get healthy, get their chemistry back and stay healthy awhile. Seems like every time someone comes back it fucks them for a couple games.

Seems like Dowd is a little rusty, but Oshie seems to have a jump in his skating that I haven't seen in a while - nice to see that.


I hate that they had to sit Sgarabosa and NAK - both those guys have been playing well with a ton of effort. Why start Pacioretti at this point?  I'm afraid it is a "respect" kind of thing as they don't want that reputation in the league.  If that is the case, I don't agree with it.  He has had his time and been paid well and they gave him enough games to make an extra $2 million in bonuses - which was stupid.


Bring up more Hershey guys and let's see who can develop!
