Yeah, I think Backy hasn't looked horrible, but still no production. Oshie doesn't even look like the same guy....even parked in front on the PP. He's always skated with somewhat of a reckless style and falls more than any NHL guy I can remember, but now it just looks like an old broke down guy who can't stand up and stay in the play. I think he will pick up his play and get some goals, but I don't see him getting 20 goals ever again..or playing more than 50-60 games in a seasonHonesty, we'd have been better off if Backy hadn't "recovered" from the Hip surgery. Good for him and all his hard work, but I really didn't expect he would make it back. I think Backy can still contribute - certainly not at anything close to the value of his contract though.Patches is gonna fit right in with this squad
I noticed the other day Milano has the worst +/- on the team (like a -5) and wondered if that would affect his playing time. Its so early those stats don't mean much, especially the way the team started, but its not good to be on the wrong end of that scale.
Strome is leading the team with +4 and Ovi (yes Ovi) now a +3
I think if Carberry can manage Ovi's minutes and utilize him in limited roles it will greatly help the team and Ovi's stats.
Not that I care about his stats, but I would like him to catch Gretzky, just not at an endless long term expense of the Caps success.
I mean we have some pretty decent young talent...give them some NHL playing time and start "resting" the old fuckers here and there. Call it a maintenance day. And I don't mean sit a 4th line guy and put a young scorer on the 4th line.
Go Caps
