Yea, Carlson looked awful ginger on his skates, from what I saw. Still no idea what kind of injury he's recovering from.


Snively being sent down is a double mystery to me. He had to clear waivers the first time. Is that it, he's now a 2 way player? And sending down anyone who recently had a multi point game, for a defenseman who most say isn't NHL caliber, seems like more super genius from this organization.

Caps are in serious jeopardy of falling like 3 teams down from the last WC spot. 
Hens and Isles in WC spots 1 & 2.  Panthers just went to OT, giving them the one point they needed to pass the Caps.
If the Caps lose Tuesday in regulation (to Redwings), the Wings will also pass us by.
Buffalo plays Toronto Tuesday, and could pass us with a win and our loss

On Carlson, I’ve read speculation that he had fractured something in his skull and those kinds of fractures take forever to heal. I speculate he got a concussion.


Apparently there is a chance Vrana plays tomorrow night for Detroit.

If, which is a very big if right now, if he can get a direct flight from Moscow to D.C. that’s about an 11 hour nonstop flight. Given what’s going on in the world, I highly suspect he’s got to stop and change planes/carriers somewhere. Theoretically he could be here by game time tomorrow.

don’t know, trying to play after a full day of travel plus the jet lag..  Right now it’s 7:35 ET Monday night, and it’s 3:35 AM Tuesday in Moscow. Getting here and being in condition to play are two different things.

New topic - how about all these fights that start after anybody makes a hard check?  Drives me nuts. Somebody like Trouba makes a great check, totally legal, and then some guy on the other team starts a fight.  It would be one thing if it was a decent fight, but now all the fights are just spin-arounds with no actual punches.   


The NHL should crack down on this and give the instigator in that situation an extra 5 minute major.  That would stop it.

Caps are 6th in the WILDCARD hunt now 

Detroit has snuck into the 2nd wildcard spot behind the Isles.

Hens are on a skid as well - have lost 4 in a row

5 teams within 2 points of each other fighting for the last spot (although Caps have played the most games)

Even Ottowa is only 4 points behind the Caps and has 4 games in hand.

With 22 games left, the Caps can't really afford to fall much further behind.
