I’d love to cover All The Down The Line (industrial metal style), hell i’d love to cover all of Exile and Stickey Fingers
This summer in Thomas WVA, i found and bought a first print copy of 12X5! The vinyl is beat all to hell (i doubt it will even play), but it’s clear who ever owned it played the hell out of it and that’s the way to do it!! I HOPE to get the chance to get any of them to sign it

Being as it’s our last night on this trip, this is apprapos
Alta: Boland and Shooter did this together. I think Strait wrote, or at least did this first, but Boland does this one best!

I've been a huge fan of the Cranberries and have every one of their albums, except "Something Else", which came out recently. I couldn't believe the news yesterday. I'm curious to find out why she died so young. I know she's battled depression most of her life. My wife used to tease me for liking Dolores' singing, for some reason it seemed to annoy her (at times). RIP Dolores! Thanks for the way you've touched my soul with your music and your haunting, passionate voice.

The single best thing about today's internet is access to good music. I used to have Palladium on every sat and sun mornin for what was usually very good up and coming/indie music. Then mtv bought it, now it's the same commercial crap you get off every top 40 radio station. Reminds me of.....

Love Eisbrecher. My wife really likes them too. I wish they would do a tour here too. We are considering making a trip to Europe just to go to a festival or 2. The majority of the music I listen to is European. A lot if them dont tour much in North America. I do like Megahertz too but they arent as good as Eisbrecher. Alex Wesselsky is badass.

You know DC I was actually going to post the video for Verrucht. Probaby my favoritevcEisbrecher tune.

Awesome!! Great choice, definitely may fav video of theirs) my favorite song is probably This Is Duetch, or Gothkiller (i’d even like it just for the name alone )
I’d definitely go over for those if you get a chance, My ex-bandmate went to Leipzig a couple times and Lady and I know a few people who have gone or go over regularly to them.
We may as well have had one here in Balt/DC last October:
- KMFDM w/Ohgr (we got to hang out w/Sascha for a bit)
- Front 242
- Lords of Acid w/ En Esch and Combichrist
- Front Line Assembly w/ Cubinite (finally back together)
- annnd Ministry (one of, if not my favorite ever)
heh that was nuts!!!
-
The only one of those bands I have seen is Combichrist back in 2010 when they opened for Rammstein. That was probably the best show I've seen. Crazy shit.

Yeah Combichrist got to open for Rammstein >:( . The best thing about them is their t-shirts.
But I will say this: I don’t give a damn who ya are, everyone should see a Rammstein show!!
I saw em here at the Baltimore Arena on their last us tour, and I don’t know how they didn’t burn that dump down. Hell im afraid to light or even ash a cigar when walking past it
-
Lol yup they have quite the pyro show. I actually saw them twice. Of course I had to travel to see them but thats OK I'll do it again if I have to. I hope they come back.

Believe me, I love loud. Just ask my neighbors. ;D I just find that to be severely harsh. It's diametric to how I feel inside. I have a wide range of taste in music. Most metal (especially deathmetal) and most rap just seem to me to be hate filled noise. These Eiesbrecher videos sound like growling demons. That's how it makes me feel anyway. I'd rather shoot myself than spend the rest of my life listening to that. I just so glad I did not have my good sound system turned on when I clicked on those videos. I don't know if my speakers could have recovered from the insult. :P
I'm happy for you if you enjoy it. To each his own, right?

Eisbrecher isnt anything close to death metal. Its industrial metal which has a bit of a techno sound. Eisbrecher vocals are nothing like death metal either. His voice is very deep but it isnt growling like death metal vocals. Maybe the vocals being in German make it sound harsher. I can post some death metal for you if you wish.

Maacos correct, a deep baritone voice/style is a near standard/requirement of the Nueue Deutsh Harte (New German Hardness) style the Eiesbretcher and Rammstein fall into. This style is (or was) huge in Germany and Europe to the point of them selling out stadiums.
It’s roots go back to mainly styles of Kraftwerk and Black Sabbath (at least Iommi), with Post Punk, New Wave, good metal (iow not pop or death), and Wax Trak era industrial.
Probably the biggest thing I like about the genre are the guitars, particularly the riffs. As a (former) guitarist the first time I heard Rammstein my jaw hit the floor on the riffs alone! Iommi-esgue melodies with gucikness and technique that translates into power , all while rarely using boring/laymen whole notes, three cord progressions, and/or the chilche “4 on the floor” . . .
The programming, keys, percussion and vocals fell in later. But ultimately, it’s the riffs that make that genre.

OK, I went and played those two Eiesbrecher videos again, this time I turned on the good sound system. Moving from one tiny speaker to the primo sound system helped separate the music from the vocals. I can concede most of your excellent dissection and description of the music. You made me realize I judged the entirety of the two based on the lead singer's harsh voice and somewhat dark demonic appearance. If I try to mentally isolate the music I thought it was pretty good and different. Not something I would listen a to a lot, but not deathmetal either. The lead singer's voice and his appearance make it a turn off for me. I tried listening without looking and that was slightly better, but I still find his voice extremely grating.

I agree with you DC about Rammsteins guitar riffs. They are so heavy. First song I heard by Rammstein was Laichzeit and I instantly fell in love with their guitar sound.
Very heavy sound like Tony Iommi but you can't compare their guitar work to Iommi's
Tony Iommi is a guitar god. His sound is amazing live.

Agree completely, saw them at their first reunion in 97 . . . it was incredible!
To clarify, i wasn’t comparing them directly, but saying they are influenced by, and from his style. His style being song structure based on heavy melodic enough riffs with, 3 note chords of scales. He was one of the first to do that, and he perfected it.

Sounds like you go to a lot of rock shows too. I go to too many although I have cut back the last couple years.

Yeah. we live in walking distance from the major concert venues in Baltimore, and get to DC/Northen Va/Silver Spring MD easily. . Well, back easily, traffic makes the trip in about 3-4 times longer best. . .
A couple years ago, us a few friends would go to shows of bands that some of us never heard of as a another stop on the bar hopping of that night. . . but, that got kinda old and the friends we did that all moved anyway.
We’ve cut back ourselves to, in part due to the lack of tours of coming to the area. Which is why this fall was so nuts. A good portion of the bands I listed havent toured in North America, if at all in ten or more years, then they all come to this area in with a month of each other :P

I saw him at the State Theater in Culpeper, beautiful old Art Deco building and great acoustics. By mid show he barely had his eyes open from whatever he had in his red solo cup, but the sound got better...
his guitar reminds me of Willie, unwilling to replace it

My annual Bowie Mourning Binge month of Jan and on into Feb(believe it or not Bowie is one of my all time favorites, to date I have every song he's released) , and Ive been listening to this one more than any song. This is one how last dark violent artsy, and disturbing works (yes Bowie did a lot of this, they where just primarily deep cuts). This one though, is one of the darkest craziest. After be diagnosed with terminal cancer, he writes a song about the execution of a mondernprofit by crucification (maybe worse)_ with flippant attack at group think and religion, heh the video gets a warning on You Tube.
 the last few seconds, are both incredibly sad and creepy

I freakin love it when a song that you haven’t listened to in years, and that you liked, but wasn’t a “favorite” comes on. . .and suddenly it’s like the first time you’ve heard it, and you can’t listen to it enough!!
Granted, this is usually a single or “popular” song liked by people who like or own limited material of the artists catalogue so I distance myself from being sick of hearing it and the faux-fans. . .
But I’ve been listening and/or watching this video non-stop for the past two days. . .
I used to like the video way more than the song, and it’s one of all time favorites. Now admittedly, on the surface this video may look like art-deco-nonsense. . . However, note the large word OUTSIDE. This is second song on The Outside album, which is a concept album about Leon and Ramona A Stone (referenced in the song), who are serial killers that make “modern art” from the body parts of their victims . . . Now it makes (partial) sense
A lot of people dismiss this as “Bowie trying to be cool again”. Oh nonono. Bowie was one of the pioneers of electronic music when he teamed up with Eno for Low, Heros, and Lodger where he started pushing Moogs and Arps to the limit, and brought in Fripp who is more machine than man anyway
20some years later, he now had the tech, the genre improved, and he brought Garson back in to simulate a great man v machine battle . . . Hehehehe

Headed to see a fellow Motown native Bobby Ritchie on Saturday. See him every time he comes to MD/VA and even flew to Detroit last September to see him open the LCA.
Two shows turned into 6 and he almost blew up the new building, good thing there’s a fire department across the street from the Baltimore arena 🤣

Richmond is different, I'd almost garuntee I could find shine in The Bottom. I was referring to Baltimore.
I've taken dates to Richmond for the night just to eat at Tobacco Company. I took one ex there before she neglected to tell me she was scared of heights, after I had them seat us next to the railing upstars, just so I could ride that elevator again. I want a house with an old elevator like that in it
ha, looky what I found.....

I’m sure Maaco will agree, but there are three songs that got define industrial and got us into it (in no particular order):
1. Thieves -Ministty
2. Drug Against War - KMFDM

I first heard this on the college radio station of my hometown, and hated any one else who liked NIN after that . . , (well it was the 90s and great bands you like that no one heard of was the status symbol)

I'm not sure what band got me into industrial. Probably Ministry.
I may be wrong about this but to me Gary Human kind of started industrial in the late 70s.

When you get down here I'll have you take em out for a spin, . . .
The 2017 MKZ is a sleeper, but at 400hp, 400 torque and AWD . . .it embarrasses most cars on the road, it will certainly fuck up an 8th mile, but they are hitting 13 in the quarter (if I can't find a a way around the warranty, I may say fuck it and put bigger turbos on it)
I will ask you for input on the Stang though, its a 2012 5.0 convertible with 50kmi and has a Ford engineers custom tune, K&N, and a Cobra exhaust, so probably 15-25hp over stock (I haven't pot it on a dyno but I’m guessing 440ish). . . it's mean, but not as evil as I want it.
I wanna put a supercharger etc to get it well over 500, but I've heard "the chassis on a concevertable won't much more hp” (even though Cobras that year we’re about 550) and have also heard "don't worry, you'll be fine up 600hp"?
What do you think? Should I risk it?
And Alta, get up here so we can take em for a ride!

Maybe you can risk it over there. Not worth it here. I got too many points against my license for speeding tickets. I'm getting better though, only 2 tickets this year.
Last time I was at the Chrysler dealer I almost drove away with a Hellcat. And the wife was going to let me buy it. I had to talk myself out of it.
I have lost interest in horsepower because of all the speeding tickets.

AWESOME
The last speeding ticket I got was 88 in a 55 on I66. . . Which would have been at least a misdemeanor on my record, but Lady referred me to a kick ass lawyer they got it knocked down to “improper operation” which is a $500 fine, and $500 for the lawyer. That’s about as scot-free as you can get.
Hell Jason Werth of The Nats spent a few days in jail for speeding on I66. . .
Still got the Hellcat?

A custom tune should get you more than 25 on the 5.0. There is conflicting info out there as to whether or not the dealer knows you had a tune on a car, assuming you put it back to stock before it went in. I know occasionally Ford corporate will get involved in a warranty and they do have the equipment to tell if a car had a tune on it. Lots of 6.0 diesels burned the pistons with an aggressive tune and Ford caught on real quick. Personally, unless you are planning on something stupid like 800hp I wouldn't hesitate to put tunes on the Lincoln. It will also let you change shift points and stiffness. If you really want to make big hp in the 5.0, you need cams and forced induction which then require their own custom tune.
I haven't paid attention to the newer generation mustangs, but there are some convertibles that have a stiffer chassis than the hard top from the factory. Either way that car should be fine with another 100-150 hp on the street as is. If it was going to be raced regularly it should have sub frame and chassis stiffeners, but it's not needed on a street cruiser, even with an occasional drag run. Your weak point is traction anyway. That's why AWD is becoming standard on the European super cars.
But, as I learned a long time ago, if you really want to go fast for cheap you need a bike. I haven't ridden mine since my accident but every single time I rode it I hit triple didgits. It gets there with no effort and back down to the speed limit before most people could think about it.

I went to a Hank Jr concert once. Was at the old cap center in landover. Jr's reputation at the time was he was usually half lit while performing. So I figured ef it, I may as well be too. I remember walking in the building. The next morning I picked up friend on the way to work. He looked down at the running board as he got in the truck and asked what I had for dinner the night before. I said hamburger. He said looks about right. 8) I think my date drove the truck home, I think. Found out latter I had a very good time.

I love how he uses the name of his “favorite tune Tommorow Never Knows what it doesn’t know to soon”. Unless you’ve been living in the moon for the past 50ish years, he’s referring to the Beatles song
These guys made one classic album anc one great album, to bad they became (more of) dumbass Britcunts with overinflated egos and ruined what could of been a GREAT band for years

Just 4 guys who changed rock n roll.. Feel sorry for today's youth, who never got to experience some of the greats that came along during our time. VH in their prime were some bad mfr's!!

Only problem with VH was that they peaked with their debut album. That album was awesome. After that I thought they were too commercial. They were OK for an easy listening band.

I love Roger Waters work and Radio K.A.O.S. is a great album IMO. It's one of my favorites I listen to a few times each year. I'm listening to it right now.
Just like Peter Gabriel was the creative genius behind Genesis, Roger Waters was the the creative genius of Pink Floyd. I absolutely love the work these two people have done. Some of his work is truly genius. He is phenomenal at capturing some of the deep challenging thoughts and struggles of the human existence and putting it to lyrics and music. Some of his works require a little effort to digest and fully appreciate. They are not all works that draw you in instantly. No music collection would be complete without a considerable amount of his work.

Fuck yeah!! Derek (legend has it “Duane,Erik = Derek”) and The Dominos is an all time classic album, if you anyone doesn’t have the Deluxe 20+ edition, they need it. It’s my favorite Clapton material ever.
That being said, Duane takes Clapton to school on Layla!!

Another Nightwish song. This one is called Ghost Love Score. I chose this song because its an epic and when I heard this song live it was the best live vocals I have ever heard.
Interesting thing about this song is that it was written for their original vocalist who was a classic opera singer. Their second singer was more of a pop vocalist and couldn't do a lot of the material with the original vocalist including this song. However when the 2nd vocalist left the band in late 2012 in the middle of a tour along came Floor Jansen to fill in as a temporary vocalist to finish the tour. When this live video was done she was still auditioning for the position. She got the job. She has a strong presence on stage as well. She is a 6 foot tall amazon. When I met her she was my height in her boots and I'm 6'3.
Anyway she has an amazing voice. Enjoy.

I listened to enough. Had you said "I really like this version" you'd be fine, but "blows the original away"?? Nah, Pink Floyd fans wouldn't be offended by that.

Ricky Medlock and the boys! I bought the album with that awesome cobra on the front!! LONG time ago, when I first started playin out myself. Had to be 1980-81 or so!
Kick-ass, no apologies, southern rock style!! I had heard somewhere?, that they tried a shift towards heavy metal, later on. I have no idea when that was. Don’t even know if they’re around anymore?
But definitely an awesome southern rock group, who weren’t afraid of Hollywood critics opinions, AT ALL!!
Thanks DC

It is rather ironic that one of the best selling albums ever, Fleetwood Mac - Rumours, is all love/cheating songs written by the group as they were cheating on each other with each other. I saw an interview with Mic a few years ago and he said he knew what was going on, had to hide some of the lyrics from the band until the final tracks were laid down because he didn't think the band would survive otherwise.
said interview....

There are three bands that will make you want play, and/or quit playin music:
(I’m no particular order)
Dream Theater, Rush and King Crimson. . .
Holy hell
For those that don’t recognize him, the guy with the glasses is Robert Fripp. Nearly everyone considers him one of the greatest guitarists of all time, and many consider him the greatest ever. . .(he takes it “easy” on this classic

Hey DC!
Fripp is so uniquely incredible, and yet mostly known better by those who play! Although folks who don’t play, but are fortunate enough to be blessed with a good ear for music, will also respect his musicianship.
His creativity and style are still so underrated, (not that he cares)! He’s just one of those extremely passionate guitarist/composers, who does it for the love of his craft!
Also loved it when Greg Lake, (Emerson, Lake, and Palmer), played with King Crimson. (“21st century schizoid man”, comes to mind!!
The level of precision musicianship, in those three bands is just off the frickin charts!
And like you said, I’ve tried keeping up with a couple of those bands tunes, and half the time, I just wanna throw my bass in the dumpster!!😂😂

Didn’t know you were fan, Mick!!👍👍 AWESOME!!
My board name makes it obvious, and yes, the “RUSH” part of “PUCKNRUSH”, DOES signify my favorite. all time, rock band! I am, of course, a HUGE follower/fan of Rush!
I’ve not only enjoyed the technically difficult challenge, over the past 43-44 years, of attempting to learn and play, nearly 75-80% of all their songs, (Believe me, those guys will keep you on your toes, as a musician), but, like many of my fellow heavily dedicated Rush fans, we grew up, as late teenagers, and through most of our adult life, being influenced by Neil Peart’s incredible lyrics.....IN ADDITION, to his impossible drum parts!
Anyone over 40, most likely can remember, “that friend”, they had, that was a big Rush head!
Yes, I’m one of those!
Very sad day for rock music fans. Especially drummers! I’m not quite as down as I thought I’d be, mainly because I read today that he had actually been diagnosed with brain cancer, 3 1/2 YEARS AGO!!
That means, that he kept it from the media. It was no secret that he wanted nothing to do with the Hollywood/pop music, media machine! He was intensely guarded about his privacy, shunning almost all media attempts for interviews about his “personal life”! I’ve met him twice, and everybody says he comes off quite cold! Not mean, just tries to avoid it all!
He wrote the lyrics to the famous song, “Limelight“, as an attempt to address the subject, of all the drummers, and fans, that wanted to personally meet him, and talk about all his meaningful songs, and such!! Pitted against the struggle of being a public figure, working hard to be the best at his craft, but disliking and avoiding the natural fame that would come with it! Here’s a few lines from the song:
“Living in a fisheye lens.
Caught in the camera eye.
I have no heart to lie.
I can’t pretend a stranger is a long awaited friend.”
(then the chorus):
“Living in the limelight, the universal dream, for those who wish to SEEM!!
THOSE who wish to BE, must put aside the alienation,
Get on with the fascination, the REAL relation, the underlying theme”.....
IMO, what a great message!!
NEIL PEART, kept his 3 1/2 year, brain cancer diagnosis, in complete secrecy, from the superficially curious, and never-to-be-trusted, media hounds, allowing only his 2 bandmates, and two or three of his closest family members, to know about his condition. YET....
He actually died 3 days ago, on Jan. 7th. The “public” found out 72 hours later.......JUST THE WAY HE WOULD HAVE WANTED IT, I’m sure!!👍.
We lost of music giant today! I’m sad for Neil Pearts family, his band mates, Geddy and Alex, and the millions of Rush fans around the world!
I’m both sad about his passing, but happy for Mr. Peart, that at least in death, he received the privacy, that he had seemed to always fight so hard for! You impacted MANY!!
Rest quietly, Professor.😔😔
(Thanks, Mick),

Nice tribute Puck!! Yea, I was Rush fan. More so of Neil then the rest. He was a master. Only got to see them once, but it was a great show! I remember finally learning that signature drum roll (1:54 mark of the video) when I was a youngster getting my chops together.. You'd never know you could throw a Neil Peart drum roll into a Lynyrd Skynyrd song, now would you?? :uh-huh:
He'll be sorely missed.

not much I can add to all that, other than it sucks getting old

Also didn’t know you were a drummer. Maybe I just wasn’t paying enough attention, if you’ve ever mentioned in prior posts.
I know exactly the riff you’re talking about in that vid!! I never really thought that he actually circulated human blood in his veins! LOL!
I just figured underneath his skin were thousands of miles of electrical wires connected to a central master metronome, and computer! The man just wasn’t human!
At least we’ve got the recordings and the memories! I’ll never forget them!👍

Same thing here, brother!
Then after A LOT of drugs and NEVER knowing how to pick a good girl, (20+ frickin years), for whatever reason, The negative shit got a old, and finally came to a stop!
I got back on the drums about 15 years ago! And I had a great way to stay motivated and keep practicing,
I would just tape a little photo of some of these worthless bitches, (not that I was any better at the time, LOL!), in the upper part of the heads on my toms!
Oh I would beat the shit out of those DW drums for HOURS!!🤣😂🤪🤪
Great freaking therapy!!! I highly recommend it !!🤣😂

Very very nice Mick!
Pearl made some REALLY nice kits. Nice quality. I used to use both their hardware, and Tama hardware!
I’m sure you know that Pearts all time favorite snare, was his 14” Slingerland.
He used it all the way through his Rush career, until he switched to all DW drums!
Its the snare he used on 2112, Xanadu, Spirit of radio, Freewill, Tom Sawyer, Subdivisions, etc. he finally switched off to DW, I think around the Test for Echo album!
Although I also have DW drums, I prefer the sound of his famous Tama kits, with the Slingerland snare, and of course ALL Avedis Zildjian cymbals!
Damn, now I’m all revved up to go practice!🥁🎵

WOW!!
That’s creative!
9” depth. 👍
Bet you had NO PROBLEM gettin that bad boy to easily cut through the mustard!!😁
Ya know that gives me an idea, Mick! I’ve got a couple of used snare heads laying around, and a 14 inch floor Tom!! Now it’s probably 13-14” inches DEEP, as well!
Oh yeah! I’m gonna slap two heads on that bad boy, and get one of those rim mounted snare wire kits!
Hell I wanna see what kind of experimental sound I can get out of it! I need to break the monotony anyway. It will probably be more like marching formation in the George Washington days. LOL
I’ll keep you posted !👍

like I said, mostly remember, back when the DUI limit was .10 and open containers were still legal in both states. Back in the '80s there was a place in Baltimore that let you bring in your own beer, could've sworn it was hammerjacks, because that was the place right next to the elevated freeway.
But, there was a um, gentlemens club close too that may have been the place. Only went once....
to that one
I've been to a few.. gentlemens clubs in my time. I always went with a group and that group always included a couple of girlfriends. Seemed like they had more fun than the guys. But I never really understood the draw, to get all worked up, drop a load of cash, and go home alone.
The best time I ever had in one of those places was this club in Raleigh, because one of the girls worked the floor in street clothes giving shoulder massages for $20. That was the most relaxing $100 I ever spent, and I garuntee you she made more money than girls dancing.

1966 GTO "Barn Find" 60,560 miles, one owner. 389, 4 speed, bucket seats....
get past the dust and the car is actually in pretty good shape for its age. (at least visibly).
Lots of pictures on the site. Bid was at $12k a couple days ago. at $30k now. One day left

I’m not really fond of the 60-67 era, too square and boxy. Everything got rounded corners in 68-72 and not in a everyone spent 8 months in a wind tunnel way. I like that era better.

Meh - I guess I should be more into it - seein how my family is from the hills and hollers where that racing was born.
I recall as a young child (when visiting my grandma's house) - hearing late at night the moonshiners race down the road running from the cops - For real. Madison County, NC was a very rural and very rough place, and was a dry county then (actually still is a dry county). That was 40+ years ago. Grandma's house where my pappy was born & raised...(along with his 7 brothers and sisters) was in the Pisgah National forest along HWY 208 that runs through Madison county and into Tennessee. Bootleggers would run that road in the middle of the night.
apparently it's still a rough place...

The Mob Rules....First concert I ever went to...kind of by accident. Friends mom went to get Stones tickets and were sold out so she asked "what do the kids listen to" and they sold her Black Sabbath.
It was at the Caps center in Landover. I was maybe 13 or 14. First time I ever saw a 3' tall bong being passed around (I've never been to Mick's house) :raspberry:

Brother, if you saw the lineup from that video. Dio, Iommi, Appice and Geezer, you saw some metal fucking legends!! Probably formed that lineup around 81' or so.. And yes, I had a large (glass) bong in my yout! lol Was the tallest one that head shop in Woodbridge had. Probably 4'?? Broke the damn thing while drunk. :'( But that's a story for another time. :snicker:

That was it. That was the lineup. I looked it up and it was summer of '81 with that lineup. I was 13 and just finished my Freshmen year in HS. I wasn't quite yet a metal head at the time, so really did not appreciate what I saw...or maybe...I don't really remember. Wasn't till years later that I truly appreciated the music and talent.
I was more of a ZZ Top guy in HS...although AC/DC and Ozzy were two of my favorites.
