It IS the boredom thread so...

Caps back on top of division (and league) with 50 points  Tampa also has 50 pts (and same 34 GP as Caps)

Caps have 19 RW, 21 ROW
Tampa has 20 RW, 23 ROW

Two teams 18RW and two more with 17 RW

Caps have fewest regulation losses of any team in NHL with 7.  Carolina also has 7 regulation losses (and 33 GP and 49 pts)
Tampa, Vegas, Colorado & Montreal have 8 regulation losses...but Montreal has 9 OT/SO losses...apparently they shit the bed in OT - they have more OT losses than Regulation losses

Go Caps

if we're honest, the cubed wombat poop is the only one that's mildly interesting, weird shit in the land of Oz

Trailer tires aint bad. But yea, with all the different tire makers out there, I couldn't be brand loyal to anyone in this day and age. They all make decent tires, some just like to charge ya 2/3x what their worth.

an average man living to age 76 produces about 24,320 lbs of poop in his lifetime.

 :snicker:  Liquid diet.

If they can run that race at night next year, to reduce the dust, and get rid of the competition cautions every 50 laps, that'll be a bad ass race! Wish they'd make it a stand alone though. Bristol is one of the few tracks left that doesn't need gimmicks to put on a good show.

they could run it at an actual dirt track, it won't dry out the way the 8" of dirt on top of asphalt does

Knoxville is hosting a truck race later this year. Not sure it's got the facilities to host a Cup race though. But they put down FEET of dirt on top of the concrete at Bristol. Just a bunch of laps, sun and 3400lb cars suck the moisture out.

They said they'll do it again next year. It's too bad they'll have a new car for 2022, so they may be back to square 1 trying to get it right.

They changed the banking from 28* of asphalt to 19* of dirt. Where the track dried the most it is only 1 foot deep. If the dirt track was actually connected to the ground it wouldn't dry out as quick, unless there was a drought. NASCAR would be better off running a dirt race at an actual dirt track, especially this year when attendance isn't an issue. Fat Tony owns a real nice dirt track that hosted the trucks annually until this year because NASCAR pissed off the fat boy, and I don't blame him.

NASCAR is running more road tracks this year, which looks to me like a gimmicky attempt to get fans back into the sport. This years brickyard will be run on the infield. We've had very good racing in the past on the ovals. What has ruined NASCAR is the idiots running it. I thought things might get better after King France was outed, but the people who replaced him are just as bad.

and a new car for next year is news to me, what is it? The COT mkVI?

I dunno what happened with Smoke and Nascar, but I imagine it had something to do with him and Ray Evernham starting their own racing series.. I think they're slated to start June 12th, running some excellent short/mid ovals and road courses around the country.  :uh-huh:

SRX (Superstart Racing Experience)

The 2022 Cup car looks like (and is built) like a fucking sportscar..  :-\ The lug nuts in the pic must be for looks only. They're running a single lug 20" wheel, rear defuser, etc. Another step away from "stockcars" :raised-eyebrow:

Fat Tony owns the Eldora, home of the world famous Chili Bowl. Trucks have been running it for years, but when fat Tony tried to make a deal with them about running the Cup cars at a dedicated dirt track that NASCAR already goes to, they blew him off, so he told them to stick their truck race where their brains are.

If they'd of done Eldora THIS year, they could of pulled it off. But that'd of only been a few thousand tickets with covid limits. (and you know Nascar are some greedy bastards) I think they sold the 30K tickets Bristol allowed, in 30 minutes. Eldora's 100% capacity is 30K.
And have you seen Smoke lately? Fat Tony?  :raised-eyebrow: Shame on you Alta, shame..  :snicker:  He's gotta be in shape for that new SRX series and his new HOT wife!  :uh-huh:

I remember about 20 years ago during the peak of nascraps popularity, tickets for the cup races at the 160,000 seat Bristol motor speedway were made of unobtainabium. I finally went once, paid double the face price, decided I had much more fun at Richmond. I went to both Richmond races for years. One weekend I used to live out of the truck for four days at the track. Went down Thursday for trucks that night, stayed for Bush on Fridays and cup on Sunday's. Slept it off in the truck Saturday night and drove home Sunday, and, there must've been about 100 other vehicles in the lot doing the same thing. They(NASCAR) used to let you bring a soft sided six pack cooler into the stands with you, post September 11. The other Richmond race I'd caravan down with a bunch of friends from this area. We left here at 6am for the 8pm race. We usually pulled into the fairgrounds about 9(traffic was bad) and tailgated all day. If you weren't there by 9-9:30 you were going to be stuck in one of the remote lots. The cup race was over a $400 day, per person, after drink/food, race ticket, souvenirs and of course the scanner rental.

Yea, I never made it to Bristol, unfortunately.. I remember if you wanted to get tickets via BMS, you had to buy the Busch ticket to get a Cup ticket.

I had 15 season tickets for RIR for years. (for friends and family) Used to always ignore the parking attendants and head to the right, by the horse barn. Always find a nice place under a shade tree to park.. Awesome times! Leave the house around 7am on Saturday and tailgate the weekend, grilling and drinking.. Also had 15 season tickets for Dover for years. Used to do that as a 1 day'r though.. Also had season tix for Daytona and would go to the Charlotte races just about every season. Usually got tickets at the track. I remember I got em' 1 year about a week before the race, tickets said "row 35" (they we're off turn 2) and I couldn't believe they still had tix so good for the time I went to buy them. Got to the track and the seats were on a hill. Row 1 was "called" row 20..  :snicker:  Bastards. Could barely see and there was a pole right in the sight line down the back stretch.. Oof.  Also Charlotte was "dry" on Sundays, so you either brought your own or got it by the 12 pack at the Speedway. Highway robbery!!  :raised-eyebrow: lol At least they'd pack your 12'r with ice when ya bought it.

I also used to do NHRA. Went to maple grove every year for about a decade, went to "Richmond" when the track in dinwiddie(VMP) was built. Went to that shithole that is englishtown a couple times. But NHRA lost me when they went to 1000 feet, along with quite few other fans from what I've read.

The '1000 was mandated after a couple of deaths at a couple shithole tracks(englishtown, not enough shut down area) and NHRA stopped going to those shithole tracks shortly thereafter. It'd be like NASCAR limiting everything to 150mph after the Earnhardt crash while still mandating the HANS and safer barriers.

I grew up around drag racing too! Never made it to a NHRA event though. VIR was built right around the time I moved to FL if I recall correctly. Used to hit the local strips though. Old Dominion, Buds Creek, Summer Duck. Whenever they brought in the Alcohol Funny cars and Pro Stocks it was pretty cool!

NHRA was great because the standard entry ticket got you this close to the pits...

that’s a top fuel car, they rebuild the engine in between every round and test fire in the pits.

The only downside to nhra was they didn’t allow drinking like you can at nascar. There’s a
%99.98 chance that everyone at an nhra event is %100 sober.
