I was raised in Oldsmobiles, but they didn't make trucks. So I went Ford, especially after GM ran Olds into the ground, and then Pontiac

and since the chase began, has there ever been more than two guys realistically in contention for the championship in atlanta homestead?

Well it's the boredom thread so....

I haven't watched any baseball this year (lost my local MASN channels, and I don't have time), but
this dude stroked 5 home runs in 2 games for the Nats tying MLB record.  He's their lead-off hitter (currently)
Yesterday started game with a lead off HR and hit 3 HR total with 4 RBI (of the team total 5) to beat the "1st place" Mets.
Two HR the day before (1st was also a lead-off HR) and 4 of team's 6 RBI also to beat the Mets.  (Didn't realize until I looked back these games were not back to back.  Nats lost 1st game of double header yesterday morning)

https://www.mlb.com/video/schwarber-mashes-three-homers?t=key-moments

Nats have won 8 of last 10 to bring them to 3 games BELOW .500 and 3rd place (tied with Atlanta) in the lowly NL East - 5 GB from Mets in 1st place.  Philly in 2nd 4.0 GB and Miami in 5th 8 GB.

Holy moly - Arizona is 20w and 53 L and .274 winning percentage.  That's pretty atrocious.

Go....NATS.....CAPS.....ISLES & HABS :)

In other news, Chase Elliott ran the last 70+ lap run Sunday, with 5 loose lug nuts.  :snicker:  They disqualified him, but that's still pretty impressive..

I thought NASCRAP stopped penalizing for that

and NASCRAP just eliminated most of the pit strategy by going to the spindle mount lug nut. What takes the longest is fuel, if they gotta wait for the fuel to load they may as well just change all 4 tires.

They only started caring about lug nuts/tight a few years ago. Far as I know this is the first case of someone being disqualified.. 1 loose = 10K$ fine, 2 = fine + crew chief suspended next race. 3+ = disqualification.

2 tire stops are pretty rare these days anyway. They'll still have problems getting that spindle on w/o cross threading it. Indy and F1 make what, 2 stops a race, max? They'll be pitting over 10x at Darlington and other places. For sure will be a shit show, at least for a while.. lol

F1 made their races one load of fuel and a mandatory 2 tire change, as I recall the reasoning was to help limit costs in an absurdly expensive sport

F1 full fuel load was for safety. The mandatory stop is for 4 tires, were they must change compound from what they started the race on. (Same with Indy, but they still fuel the cars during stops.) Can't imagine any of it was for money savings as they still use 6 or 7 sets of tires from practice through qualifying.

Nascar claims they're going to the single spindle/lug because their new 18" wheel isn't safe to run with lug nuts? They're barreling head first toward a GT/IMSA style car. Rear diffusers, single lugs, etc..  :-( Pretty sure teams in nascar are not going to be allowed to "build" their own cars any more either. They'll put them together, using parts from a nascar sourced supplier.  :clown: :poop: :-\

could've said that better, F1 mandates they change all 4 tires twice during the race. Each team must use 3 sets of tires and each set is a different softness. F1 has mandated 5 different compounds of tire softness, plus 2 more for rain. The tire supplier, Pirelli, only brings 3 compounds of the slicks to each track, per the rules. Which 3 compounds depends on each track based on tire wear. Each race is one load of fuel. As I understand it, this was all done in an effort to control costs. F1 may have mentioned safety as one of the excuses to not refuel during a race. But it makes no sense as they are the only top racing class to not refuel during a race, and refueling incidents on pit road have become rare.

They only have to stop once. Hamilton finished 2nd last week on 1 stop. Pretty sure Vettle and Perez only stopped once to. Max pitted twice and passed Hamilton with 1 lap to go for the W.

Nats have won 5 in a row, 9 of the last 10.  Nats are 15-7 in the month of June.  Brings them to 36-36 and actually in 2nd place in the NL east

Schwarber still on fire - 8 HR in last 5 games. 12 HR in last 13 games.  Pretty strong lead-off guy.  First player in MLB history to hit 12HR from the lead off spot over a span of 13 games.

it IS the boredom thread so :raspberry:

Sooo, for anyone paying attention.. Larson blew a tire in the last corner of the last lap, to lose at Pocono today!  :)  lol Hit the fence so, he's goin to a backup for tomorrow's race.. (They're running back to back at Pocono these days)

And in the SRX race at Eldora, they talked to Smoke while he was racing, under green! Was pretty cool!! Told em' he was about to take Andretti to school in 1 lap and it took him 2..  :snicker:  He started the feature (50 laps) in the back and took the lead with like 7 laps to go. Couple restarts at the end and he won his 2nd in a row. (Both on dirt) Next week they head to Lucas Oil Speedway in Indiana.. 8pm, CBS. Pretty cool racing, seeing some of the old stars run! Paul Tracy has wrecked just about everyone in the field, in the first 3 races.
