The Rangers speaking out like that was in bad taste no matter who the player was involved. I get it they were upset with the league and lack of suspension and pissed because their player was hurt.
BUT.....
the "season ending injury" (excuse me, but your season was over before the game started) was a result of the moron jumping Tom - and him getting ragged dolled cause he's a snowflake. I don't want to see anyone injured, but the original ire was cause Tom poked at the guy on the ice... ONE TIME. - NOT as a result of bread getting tossed about.
Good for panera standing up for team mates, but Tom really didn't do anything to him. He did not smack him, not even once. He could have pounded him.
How about Rask clubbing Hathy four of five good shots last night while he was face down on the ice? - didn't even get a call. THat was 5x worse than what Willy did.
The whole DOPS is a joke and so inconsistent that nobody knows what is an offense and isn't. ANd lets not forgot....for the "right guy" they can make up shit for suspensions that are not even suspendable actions or plays.
But specifically calling out one player in the media and calling it a horrifying act of violence is absurd and embarrassing. Which part was the horrifying act of violence? the part where he tapped the guy on the ice or the part where he got mugged by two other players with his back turned and then hand tossed some limp dough around?
I think this "media release" reflects more poorly on the Rangers organization than on Tom or the worthless DOPS. I'm curious if this helped lead to the firing of GM and president. Bad seasons and under performance usually leads to a coach getting fired...or a GM...or a president, but both the pres and the GM tells me the owner wasn't very happy about this.
Fuck them anyway. Tom has such a bad rep now its atrocious. Don't understand why the NHL has it out for him. I get they want to protect their valuable assets, but Tom IS ONE of those assets. He should be a super star in this league, instead they curse him and castrate his game and handcuff his play.
The fucking moronic NBC announcers need to stop hyping it too. All they can talk about is his history and "type of play" and blah, blah, blah.
And FFS I hate Penis McQuire, but fucking Olchik is no better. The bias in these guys is disgusting. How about just call a good game - you DON'T need to try and drive up the hype by constantly beating this dead horse again and again.
