Yeah, last couple years only, I've been introduced to the "reading glasses" phenomena.  Very annoying concept to someone who HAD better than great vision their whole life.  Now I can't see shit that closer than arm's length (good thing me arms is so short)

So your soundbar is connected directly to TV with optical cable or does it go through a ..."receiver" or Tuner or something?
I tried the optical cable between TV and soundbar and got no sound (and changed audio output on TV to Optical..and selected optical on the soundbar)

Wha????
I mean, I really not a A/V guy, but I can plug stuff in.  I've never used an optical cable before.

I actually went and downloaded the manual just now for the soundbar and it sounds like my TV has this ARC setting turned off.  I shall see next time I have an hour to be frustrated by technology and feel like looking for my glasses so I can read the manual. :snicker:

Or maybe I will just shoot Lil a PM and she can help me.  :raspberry:

So....
I’m home finally and I took my flash drive (that I used to copy the mkv Files I downloaded from my high speed internet work computer to my laptop) and Plugged it directly into my smart tv and
Holy shit I can play the games directly from the flash drive.
I guess I just figured the TV could not play the mkv files directly without software platform to run the video
(Told you I could basically plug shit in but am not an a/v guy)

And riddle me this....WTF is the picture so much better than it was playing from my laptop/hdmi cord? It is the same damn file (well it’s a different game but I can’t imagine one game was higher quality than another). One of you smart guys explain that sometime
Maybe my laptop video settings are set too low? But I figured the laptop would play the files at the res they were recorded at? Holy cow I can’t believe how much better this pic is now.
I may have to go back and watch the Hens get whipped in better quality and see Cindy’s tears crystal clear  ;D

AND

I tried one more time on the sound bar with the HDMI (arc) connection and it worked the very 1st time.  I’m really tempted to fire up my phone to it and play Megadeath “Angry Again” at full volume and wake the house the fuck up  ;D

(I’m pretty sure AJ must have hacked into my shit and fixed it just cause he was tired of my stupidity)

So now I have the game and sound. Only prob is no FF and no Rewind. Pause works but the others say “not available”

Damn!  This picture is better!
I am like super excited
I started the Columbus series (round 1) over last night as I did not have it copied yet when I started this mess
BTW caps lost in OT to lose game 1 last night
We up 1-0 five minutes into game two
Love Joe B calling the games
I guess my 16 hour day is paying off.
Later peeps. So good

Make sure your settings for the TV (under "Display Settings") are set to the 1280 x 720p and at 60hz refresh rate.

Right-click on desktop and click on "Display Settings", then go down and click on "Advanced Display Settings". Then choose your TV display and if needed you can click on "Display adapter Properties" for the TV display and set the resolution and refresh rate.
You also might try something other than the default Windows Media Player, which is a POS.  I recommend "VLC" https://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html, as it is easy to use and is compatible with everything. I have some other recommendations for players, but they are more complex to setup.

BTW, with VLC you can setup keystrokes and mouse actions to pause/play, go forward or back "X" seconds, and you can decide how long "X" is.  It already has some default settings, you just have to look to see what they are in "Tools", "Preferences", then "Hotkeys".
