my soundbar has settings that need to be selected for optical, standard or Bluetooth connection, and I have to reset it to optical every time the power goes out. I'm not fond of having everything run on Bluetooth and avoid it if at all possible
several years ago I had to put a 50" 4K in the bedroom, so I could read the on screen TV guide without my glasses on :(

You frickin fish guys...always dreaming about streams. Although you FLA peeps are likely more lakes and oceans types
My smart TV might, but my TV operator might not be that smart. WTH is a "stream"?. I don't have wifi available.
and the laptop thing is okay.
The sound bar is annoying as fuck. Although....I don't need to hear Penishead any louder that's for sure.

Their are three things that will solve all of this:
1. Apple TV
2. PS4
3. Respective Apps.
The Apple TV or PS4 have all the apps to needed. PS4 has the browser and can do 4K (you’ll need an Ethernet cable)
Link to your receiver via HDMI & you’re good

Yeah, last couple years only, I've been introduced to the "reading glasses" phenomena. Very annoying concept to someone who HAD better than great vision their whole life. Now I can't see shit that closer than arm's length (good thing me arms is so short)
So your soundbar is connected directly to TV with optical cable or does it go through a ..."receiver" or Tuner or something?
I tried the optical cable between TV and soundbar and got no sound (and changed audio output on TV to Optical..and selected optical on the soundbar)
I mean, I really not a A/V guy, but I can plug stuff in. I've never used an optical cable before.
I actually went and downloaded the manual just now for the soundbar and it sounds like my TV has this ARC setting turned off. I shall see next time I have an hour to be frustrated by technology and feel like looking for my glasses so I can read the manual. :snicker:
Or maybe I will just shoot Lil a PM and she can help me. :raspberry:
