there wasn't nearly enough team defense tonight to call out Holtby. All the team had to do was defend better on 1 of 7 goals and it doesn't even go to OT

ArJunaZ:
Oshie in post game interview basically admitting they are not giving 100% all the time, thus the losses.

Team D sucked, but his glove failed him at least 4 times tonight.  When you are struggling you need your stars to step up.  Ovie had a hat trick.  Holtby didn't give them the game they needed.

He had just skated the puck down the left wing and flung the puck toward the net (that was the one place he was selfish as he should have dumped it into the corner) and he was getting back on D where he covers the right point -- all the way on the opposite side of the ice from the bench.  He was supposed to skate over for a change while SJ was skating it up the ice?  And which defensive scheme for the Caps has Ovie ever covering the crease down low?  Where were the fucking defensemen whose job it is to cover the crease?  And none of that happens if fucking Holtby catches the goddamn puck.

Whatever apace.  Ovie was out there for over 2 minutes on the last shift of a run and gun game when he an opportunity to change and he didn’t.

So whatever scheme that allows Ovie is be so far from the net and effectively turn it into a 6-4 with mere seconds left is assanine.  Ovie isn’t excused from realizing that time is drawing to an end and it would be better for him to actually be guarding the crease than trying to get an empty netter.

So now you’re argument is a: Rierden made him stay out there for over 2 minutes at the end of the game and b: he is absolved from guarding the crease as time runs out because that isn’t our defensive scheme.   Ok, if you say so.

I’ll say it again - he isn’t the only reason we lost - got it?

Mickstix:
I'd say Reirden is down to counting on 1 hand the number of games he has left to register a W.. Probably 3 will do it.  :uh-huh:
