Totally agree. Ovi did his best all fucking game. He scored 3 goals and made some solid defensive plays during the empty net period, and even almost scored a 4th. He's the last guy the loss is on. The fact that his team was in that position in the first place despite his 3 goals is telling.

Quite frankly, with how garbage our defense has been, I would have placed better odds on us winning due to an Ovechkin 4th goal than us actually closing out the game with solid defense. Seriously. I think putting him out there with an empty net was us playing the probabilities.

You may be right - having him out there to try for an empty netter may be playing the probabilities ..... when there’s time left on the clock.

The point I apparently ineloquently was making was that having him out there for over 2 minutes and standing 15-20 feet from the goal as the clock runs out and Kane is left unguarded in front of the net for a tap-in tieing goal is not playing the probabilities.  Any other LW on the Capitals not named Ovechkin is next to Holtby more worried about guarding the net than getting an empty netter.

We’ve been spoiled.  We’ve watched the greatest goal scorer of our generation, maybe of all time, for over a decade.  And yes, it’s been entertaining.   But nothing comes close to the entertainment value of winning a Cup.   I could care less how many goals Ovie or any Cap has so long as we win.  An OT game, even one with 13 goals and 2 hat tricks that we lose due to lack of effort, lack of coaching, and lack of discipline is less entertaining than a 1-0 win ..... at least to me.   I understand others may see it differently.

Make no mistake, Monumentals top priority is 700 and 800.  Winning a cup just makes it easier for them to be more obvious about it

so how many goals is Dylan responsible for now with his blue line turnovers?
