I understand giving the Oates jersey away. It’s worthless. Kolzig memorabilia does have some value.

The two biggest former Blues players to play for the Caps wore 77 .... i never put any thought into that until now

I liked Oates when he played for us...with Bondra.  Think his coaching here pretty much soured any good will he may have earned with the fans though.

I was just reading about him - he was an undrafted player - turned out to have good success, but man he bounced around a lot.  He signed a contract with at least 3 clubs then demanded it be renegotiated part way through the term for more money.

He was an ass as a player, he was a dumb ass as a coach.

Aww, that's nice right thar!! I got one of those when I was a kid, in like 78' at Cap Center. That was when I realized the game pucks are frozen solid before use. Very cool! Unfortunately it didn't say Peter Bondra 1st goal on it..  :raspberry:

Bondra was probably my first all time favorite Cap. Well...Hunter was first, then Bondra probably surpassed him on my list.  I never named a dog after Bondra, but I did have a dog named Hunter (named after #32) and a cat named Gretzky.  The cat was almost named Bonzai, but the wife didn't like it.

Good Lawd!! NHL done gone crazy!! lol I guess they're taking a step in salary, across the board.. Good for them! Unfortunately, it probably won't be long before ticket / stream prices jump again as well.

A 6-year contract is eminently reasonable for someone of McMichael's age.

Now, what is the AAV??  That's the big question.

6 years at $6.75M per

That’s about a $4.75M raise. Not something I would have agreed to as management.

Yeah, I just looked it up.  Gulp!!!  I guess $6.75 million doesn't buy what it used to.

A long term contract gives you job security. It also locks you in at your pay rate for the duration. Willy isn’t that under paid at $6.5M per. That McMike contract is just stupid. Maybe he ends up earning it, but based on his performance here he’s overpaid by about $3M.
