Oof.  Canes vs Flyers is just ugly. Flyers are outmatched.  Canes are relentless.  Flyers look a bit like the Caps struggling to get into the zone on the PP.  Flyers have Tod Rierdon as asst coach...and the Flyers have literally the worst PP in the NHL
Did Tochett actually choose Reirdon?

And in other news, the Bears beat the WB/S Penguins 2-1 tonight to knot their series at 1 game apiece, after the Pens won the first game 4-2.

IProtas and Cristall assisted on both goals tonight.  Protas also scored one of the two goals for Hershey in game 1.  So he continues to drive play in the playoffs.

I have to believe that IProtas is going to make the team in the fall.  You don't bring a guy like that up, use him to center AProtas and Wilson, and put him on PP1 when you are trying to win out and make the playoffs, and not have serious intentions about him for next season.  Cristall I'm not quite so sure about, but I suspect he'll get a full chance to make the roster as well.

No matter what Ovechkin decides about playing next season, the times they are a changin'.

I've watched a few of these Lightning/Habs games and have yet to see anything special from Lane Hutson?  Cole looked way more impactful, to me anyway.. He's got 22 more minutes or so to prove me wrong. lol

With round 2 starting, of the remaining teams, a Minnesota franchise and Buffalo have never won the Cup. It is possible at this juncture for both teams to play each other in the final.

Habs: Fewest shots on goal (9) to win a playoff game in NHL history!  :snicker:

Are the Avs and Wild always that leaky? Fun to watch, but somebody got to play some D at some point. lol

Fairly shitty night of NHL playoff hockey. Ducks lost  :(  and Carolina is gonna have the easiest path to the finals in recent history.  :-( If somehow Carolina doesn't make it, I hope they fire BrindAmour. Just looking at that dude pisses me off.  :snicker:

 ... is pretty much how i feel about the teams that are left and the playoffs in general this year. Seems to me the matchups last couple few years have been better in the playoffs with some great series in every round.  This year just seems not all that interesting

I just cant see Philly beating the Canes.  Buffalo and Montreal might be good series, I'd like to see Buffalo move on, but I think Mick is right, Carolina should coast thru any of these teams.
Vegas wins...boo.
Minnesota and Avs apparently can both score, but I think the Avs will take them in 5 games.  Would like Minnesota win the west and Buffalo win the east, but I would rather the Caps were in it too.

Hey - draft lottery tonight. Caps have a .5% chance to move up 10 picks!  Wahoo!  I don't know why teams don't try and stockpile picks for a 2 or three year period to try and concentrate a massive improvement and go for a Cup. If I were a GM, I would trade my first round pick for three years in a row for future picks so I would have 2 first round picks in three straight years, plus the other picks you would add. Of course I would be fired before it all paid off!

I WANT the Ducks to lose, to protect another draft pick in the teens.  If the Ducks win this series, the pick the Caps got from them for Carlson drops 10 picks or more.

Oh, and another note regarding the prospects:  I just noticed, in looking at the Caps prospect listing, that IProtas and Cole Hutson have been removed.  Cristall/Chesley are still on.  I think that is an indication that the Caps see IProtas and Cole as members of the big club now, even though IProtas was moved down to Hershey, probably to get playoff seasoning.

I think Protas and Hutson are both 100% Caps next year.  They both showed, albeit in a limited amount of time, that they are impactful players at this level already.  Another year for Protus in Hershey would be a waste of his talent.  Hutson i think, even though he is young, was a higher level prospect to begin with, and not to different from Leonard in that he was expected to play in the NHL right away.

Cristall nearly made the team last year out of camp.  I think he will make the squad this year, but I guess that depends on what talent the Caps can bring in over the summer.

I know YOU do. I don't give a shit. Im rooting for Dylan and the Ducks!!

I keep reading fantasy island posts about how we may try and bring him back after the offseason. lol People trippin on the interwebs.. We're also gonna package up Strome, Protas and Hutson for McDavid. Or Strome, McMike and a prospect/picks for Brady Tkachuk.  :snicker:

Hell if you brought McDavid, you'd want Hutson to stay to get him the puck., but even those three might not get you McDavid I don't think.  I would not part with Hutson though.
And WTF would McJesus want to come here?  People be cra-cra

The problem, as I see it, with this strategery is draft pools vary quite a bit from year to year. You may not get anything worth spending a draft pick on, and that’s in a good year.

16th pick shocker.  well we don't know what to do with picks except throw them away on trades.
When was the last time the caps drew a decent pick.  Hmmm... Hutson, Lil Pro, Leonard, Cristall, Miro, Iorio, Lappy big Pro, McMike....

And Colorado won.  Pretty easily I think.  They are just on right now.  Passing, shooting, skating all looks good. PP is downright scary.  They will be hard to beat if they keep playing at this pace.
