i read somewhere - almost 100% sure it was El-Bashir reported very late Sunday night that Sourdiff and Chisolm have been cut, but I sure have not seen it reported anywhere since, and Chisolm is listed on tonight's game roster so...El-Bashir made a boo-boo Sunday night

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/G2GX0ecWYAAQB_P?format=jpg&name=medium

Game roster graphic for tonight's preseason game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Roster consists of 12 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders. Game info is September 30 at 7 PM at Nationwide Arena and can be watched on MNMT and listened to on 106.7 The Fan and Caps Radio Network.

Three guys cut this morning:  Terik Parasak, Cam Allen, Patrick Thomas

A white background with red and blue text reading "TRAINING CAMP ROSTER UPDATE" and the date "SEPTEMBER 30, 2025." Below, text in red states "LOANED TO HERSHEY" with Patrick Thomas and Cam Allen listed, and "LOANED TO JUNIOR TEAM" with Terik Parascak listed. A small Washington Capitals logo with wings is visible in the bottom right corner.

After this morning’s skate, coach said Milano should be “back to business”. Not sure what that means, business for last year has been 10 games.

With the Nationals season over and this not being an NFL game night, I suppose there is a chance in hell that the Caps will actually be on 106.7. We shall see.

Caps website roster (certainly not updated or accurate) shows:  Frank, Leonard, Sourdiff, Milano listed, but not Lappy.  I assume this is the roster at end of last season
I would think based on performance thus far that Lappy and Milano, as well as Leonard make the squad, leaving two F spots open (with a 23 man, 13F, 8D, 2G roster).
I don't now where they stand with Sourdiff - he would have to clear waivers to go to AHL. Well I've heard that said, but i don't understand why that is - he is only 23 and has played only 4 NHL games.  According to the waiver rules I read, he falls into a waiver exempt category.  NHL waiver exemption chart:

So that's leaves 2 spots left for whole bunch of hopefuls: (assuming Milano, Lappy, Leonard made the NHL squad)
Frank
Sourdiff
Miroshnechenko
Cristall
Protas v2.0
(I didn't list everyone, but only the top names being tossed about)
I figure Protas does not make the NHL squad - he's 19 and not yet played his first pro season.  I expect he plays Hershey this season to get some more experience.  He certainly did tear up the WHL last year.
Cristal has played very well and looks very good, but he also played WHL last year and his size is a disadvantage.  He had an excellent camp last year too and was one of very last guys cut.
Frank - Do we assume he has a roster spot?  I dunno, he might be a casualty if Cristall and Miro keep playing well.
Sourdiff - they seem high on him (or did this summer spending 2 draft picks) but he has been less noticeable to me than several others.  Maybe he's just not flashy, but he has not stood out to me.
Miro - he has played pretty well also, made some plays, and show more physicality this year, and getting in good spaces and working hard.

It's interesting Miro, Frank, Cristall, Lappy, Protas are all skating tonight.  Leonard not skating tells me he's made the NHL squad

On the D side...as far as i can tell Chisolm and Iorio have only shot at making the NHL squad (Carlson, Chicklets, Fever, Roy, TVR, Sundin, BigMac makes 7D already)

But then, WTF do I know?  I know I'm enjoying this preseason and the prospects trying to make the team more than i have before though.  Maybe I was just extra bored this offseason.

Last season Draisaitl was the highest paid at $14M per. The current salary and cap numbers won’t get updated until opening day on October 7. I forget when the roster needs to be finalized, the same day or the day before.

Pre season game 4 Caps at Blue Jackets, no pre game on the radio so don’t know about that yet.

Lines per Caps ..

Beauvillier - Strome - Frank
Miroshnichenko - McMichael - Wilson
Cristall - Lapierre - Rempal
Rybinski - I. Protas - Trineyev

Chisholm - Carlson
McIlrath - Roy
Gucciardi - Iorio

Thompson
Lindgren

I saw the list of the second round of cuts.  Sourdiff and Chisolm were not on the list.

interestingly, Carbery said today that the Blue Jackets have made virtually all their cuts and are down to 25 players in camp; the Caps still have over 50.  Carbery attributed this to Columbus having had a front-loaded exhibition game schedule, so they've already made almost all their roster decisions.

Which also means that the Caps' motley crew tonight is facing basically the Blue Jackets' NHL roster.

Nice win.  Again, too many penalties, but damn some of those are phantoms.  The Carlson high-sticking, which was actually McMike....I don't think the stick actually touched him...I think the dude was faking.  I know all it takes is a tap on the helmet to draw, but it looked like a miss and a Crosby-esque acting job.  I wanted a better look at it but they didn't want to show me.
Same as the hooking on ...Roy? I think.  Dude reaches in with stick and it slides up opponent's stick and literally taps his hands.  They need to fix this BS call. Hooking or slashing should only be called if you actually affect the player you are reaching in on.  The simple fact that your stick makes contact with a player should not be a penalty IMO.  Pretty soon they will be calling a lift check slashing or hooking.

Cristall looked good and scored, yet again.  Lappy looked good.  Protas looked good as well.
If you factor nothing but game performance we've seen, I'd say Cristall makes the NHL squad.  We don't seem them in practice, but the kid is scoring.
I think based on other factors (like who is waiver exempt) might send both Protas and Cristall to Hershey.
I expect Protas, with only one season in major junior (OHL/WHL) will go to Hershey.  Cristall is only 20 but has 4+ seasons in WHL (started at age 17) so he will certainly at least go to Hershey if he doesn't make the NHL squad.  His size (167lbs) is holding him back.
The problem is....where would Cristall play on the Caps roster?  Putting him on 4th line would be a waste.  I guess you could put him on L3 with Lappy at C, but that's not much beef or experience on 2/3 of that line.

Actually, might not apply to you guys.. Hulu (me) and YoutubeTV have both dropped Monumental as of yesterday... Couldn't "reach a deal". I love greedy fucking execs.  >:(

I've watched all the games on Monumental.  What you smoking down there redneck?
Their beef is with HULU, who wont pickup Monumental even though Monumental is an independent sports network.  Everyone else (DirecTV, Cox, etc) has picked them up, but that F'n HULU don't want em.  I think that might affect 4-6 games over the season.  But hell...since when did what I think matter to anyone but me?

Yea, Hulu and YoutubeTV both dropped Monumental cause they "couldn't reach an agreement". I'll be cancelling HULU here shortly!  :)  Fucking assholes. I'll start stealing every god damn thing I watch if this keeps up!  :snicker:

All these streaming services make no sense, and I get accused of being a boomer for saying that. I’ve got to pay for a cable subscription to get the (mostly) reliable high speed internet. Paying for cable TV to get all the sports channels plus the five other channels I watch costs about the same as paying for 6-8 streaming services to get the same options. And lucky me, paramount + is included in the cable bill. I’ve never watched it.

I don't think Cristall weighs 167 pounds any more.  I watched a postgame interview with him the other day, and his face looks fuller.  It wasn't the face of someone who is close to 6' tall and weighs 167 pounds.  I suspect he's put on a significant amount of weight - wouldn't be surprised if he weighs at least 180.

But your point still stands - where would he play this season?  I think, if Ovie doesn't come back, there might be a spot for him next season, because the Caps are going to have to start figuring out ways to replace his production.

You get internet included with your cable? I just pay Xfinity for internet. It's another $100-120+ if I want the cable tv as well. At the moment, just pay for internet and hulu+espn+ package. Covers everything I need to watch. Well, it did anyway. Bought ready to go back to cable or satellite.  Streaming is about as much, if not more than cable, which was the whole reason for cutting the cord in the first place. Plus it doesn't matter how fast your internet is, streaming has about a 1 minute delay to "live" tv. Which makes watching sports and chatting about it on message boards a pain in the ass sometimes, cause shit happens before streamers see it. I always switch to the antenna if the Skins, or someone Im watching, are on network tv.

Cable tv and internet are the same exact connection to the house. So either way I’m stroking a monthly check to comcast. I’ve got far too many trees that I’m unwilling to cut down for dish or starlink. From what I’ve read, starlink can work through the trees, but not reliably.

Mick, if it comes to it, you can get Monumental subscription directly thru internet and it has all the Caps games (well all the ones that they broadcast).  I think its $20/month, but never pursued it cuz didn't have to.
Alta - I have Starlink.  Its is phenomenal.  I can't get cable or fiber where I am located, but i have been more than impressed with Starlink.  We have 8 people currently living in our house and are streaming 2, 3, 4 different streaming services at a time, plus computers, plus phones, and its never let us down.  I live in the woods, surrounded by trees, but it is clear around the house so i have a clear sky view from the roof.
$120/month for Starlink and it is unlimited and we've so far failed to ever have an issue or overwhelm it even with multiple multiple users on it all at the same time.  I can run a gaming laptop at same time my son is, while we are watching a streaming movie, while my wife is working remotely, while my other son is streaming another program, with 8 smartphones connected, with prob 4 of them watching tiktok for hours on end (or some other nonsense).
My in-laws moved in with us couple years ago (Lawd help me) and they had DirecTV and wanted to keep it so they pay for DirecTV.  With Starlink I wouldn't pay for it DirecTV, but we have it so i watch the games on DirecTV.  When we have storms, the DirecTV goes out, but it switches over to internet (wifi) connection thru the Starlink wifi router and basically streams thru the Starlink.
So, yeah, Im a Starlink fan because it worked so well for us.

Yea, satellite is a pain anytime there's a thunderstorm around. Only good thing about it, is if there's a power outage, (like down here in a hurricane, might be out for a week) you can use a generator and still get Satellite TV, when cable/internet/etc are all out.

Rich, Im looking into getting Monumental+.. Gone fishin till Sunday, so will get on it when I get back!
