A rangers spokesman says the rumor is not true, at this juncture. They are taking their time with several interviews before making a decision. That decision likely won’t happen before the playoffs are over. But they didn’t rule out Torts either.

Last night the Jets, the one team with more standings points than the Caps, traveled to St. Louis after winning the first two games of their playoff series against the WC2 Blues - and got spanked, 7-2.

Protas traveled with the team to Montreal. No word on when he will play, but apparently it’s soon.

I wonder if this is the type of situation where Protas is "sort of ready," but the team would be happier if they could give him a little more time, so they won't put him into the lineup in this round until the Caps lose a game.  He won't be in the lineup tonight, but if the Caps lose tonight he will be in for game 4.  Otherwise, they may hold him out again.

BlackIce, I would expect that's about right.  Give him as much time as we can afford as long as we are winning, but I agree, Caps drop one and we see Big Pro the next game.
Beavy playing well and producing on the top line probably helps drag it out as well.

Leonard adapting better than expected certainly hasn’t hurt.

We may have seen the last of Lacher this season as well. Teams don’t appear to be allowed to broadcast on their local channels past round 1.

Oilers win...from what I saw, this is just wide open play - neither team really playing defense.  I watched about 1-1/2 periods..., couldn't stay awake longer.
Oilers had the better play, but they HAVE NO GOALTENDER...4 LA goals on 16 shots.  Oilers fight back in, then demoralized by the goals against, fight back, etc.
Oilers give up 2 PPG in the second then fight back to tie it late in the second (connor Brown), only to allow LA the go ahead goal literally 9 seconds later.  They showed McDavid's face after this latest LA goal and he's like....WTF.
Oilers tie up up with 6 min left in the 3rd, then score again 10 seconds later direct from the faceoff. (a PPG actually).  then two ENGs to close it out.
Crazy scoring in this game.  I think Oilers just flip a coin to decide which unreliable goalie to play.
(McDavid was seen on the streets very late last night in Edmonton...asking anyone if they've ever played goal)  :snicker:

This is the maximum fine under the current CBA. I really don’t see the fine as a deterrent. There must be something else that goes with it should it occur too often.

and, no update today on Thompson

Shocked to see this tbh. Even if he doesn't play today, looks like he may be good soon after!

The word is Thompson and Lindgren left the ice at the same time after practice this morning. So no real indication on who is starting.

I can't imagine they'd be playing head games? Unless he doesn't feel right at game time, I think he starts.

Protas is apparently ready to play as well. It will be interesting to see who sits to make room.

Probably Leonard as he's low man on the totem pole but I'd sit Raddysh or Mangiapane as neither is doing much.

I'd love to know what Mangiapane did to earn a 5.8m salary? He plays hard and all that, but 5.8 is usually superstar $.. At least lower tier superstar.. And he's only 29, so it's not like he's on the back end of a career, playing out a crazy long contract.

I watched carb’s interview today and they specifically asked about the goalies leaving ice at same time and he smile and said that’s good coaching 😁
Protas and Thompson are game time decisions
I expect we will see Protus play today. I’m not sure if you take Leonard or Raddysh off. I’d probably keep Leonard. Raddysh has been invisible for the most part

We really have to do something about Carlson. He has been horrible the whole series. I would think he might be hurt, but if so, you would think they would limit his minutes and at least keep him off the PK.

I hate to say this, but they also need to tone down Alexyev in front of our net.  He is taking down guys and getting stupid penalties.  Otherwise though I think he has been pretty good.   I have to check, but it seemed like they took down his minutes last night after that penalty - which meant more for Dylan.

We sure do miss Fever.
