Hey chaps.
I watched quite a lot of the 'Lympics and most of it was pretty good.

The opening ceremony was pretty lame imho, but the closing ceremony was a total snoozefest.
Table tennis / ping pong used to be called "Wiff Waff" apparantly  :uh-huh: and it's been in the Olympics for ages and so it should be.  Unlike golf.   :smirk:
I think the breakdancing was a one off. Thankfully,  I don't think it's there for your games next time.   I like that they are trying new things, for instance the climbing seems to have taken off.  8)   And the BMX.  Theres some blood for ya.   Not sure about the surfing...

I have two major issues with these games.  The first being the ages of some of the competitors.  11, yes, 11year old skateoarders, ridiculous!  which brings me to the second issue of having a convicted paedophile running round.  In case you didn't know, one of the Dutch beach volleyball pair.  Convicted of raping a 12 year old girl.   Is this really someone you want representing your country?

Paralympics coming.

BRING IT ON! :uh-huh:

Blood...that's my criteria.  Can you draw blood playing this sport, or break a bone?  Okay, you're in.

Okay, I didn't qualify my initial post with...."I am admittedly and old school fart, so take my comments as you may, but..."

Regardless of whatever you criteria... break dancing is never going to cut it as an Olympic sport for me

What bout all the shooting stuff, the chucking things....?   Historially, pretty Olympic.

I agree wuth the brekdancing tho..

Pickle Ball, Table Tennis, Badminton, Bowling, Darts, Frisbee are all fun "games". Beach Volleyball probably falls into that category as well. Fun stuff, not Olympic worthy, imo.

What is "pickleball"?

similar to tennis, same net, different in/out of bounds lines, smaller rackets and bigger heavier ball

Mick, I didn’t watch a minute of Richmond, I didn’t even know it was Sunday night. I did watch Jr’s show earlier in the week. Listened to his explanation of the last lap, then went and watched the replay. I didn’t think it was nearly as bad as described. The point scoring and “playoff” qualifying definitely needs an adjustment. Dillon could have qualified for the chase while being 32nd in points if not for this decision. That’s bullstuff.

The sad part is he had the fastest car and was gonna win by 2-3 seconds until (iirc) Stenhouse and Preece wrecked with 2 laps to go. But the restart, crash was overly clownish. Nothing even close to resembling a bump/run. It looked like he was retaliating to being bumped/ran. (which if that was the case I'd not have a problem with it)

Then the 2nd part with Hamlin. It was just too much for Nascar to ignore. They need to make these decisions at the time of the incident though. 4 days later just reinforces what a shit show it's become. But yea, the format encourages that type of Bowman Gray Stadium shit. /

They just need a "clown" rule. Contact has always been a part of Nascar, but not THAT kind of contact, unprovoked. Then his teams radio didn't help matters. lol

@Lil, it's somewhere between Wiff Waff and Tennis. :raspberry: :snicker:

Hot Damn.  Good luck Jake.
Carbs would have definitely been a better coach for Vrana (or any younger guy) back in the day.....at least giving the kid a fair shake
Hope it works for everyone's sake.  But how can they have room for him?  What kind of money will he require?  Caps don't have any cap space.
Actually they are already 10,270,000 over the cap.  We all figure Backy played his last game long ago, so you can subtract 9.9 mil.
Does anyone know the status of Ethan Bear?  he's got a 2m hit, so there's that.  I guess if hes gone, you have about 1.7m to offer Vrana.
Or is Oshie officially on IR?  Does Caps management know more about his status than we do?  And if so...what happens when/if he is ready to come off IR?  Making room for 5.75m is not an easy chore.

Anyway, good luck Jake

Bear is active. I’m assuming Oshie will either not play or spend enough time on IR to clear the cap.

Or, Bear was active. I just checked the team website and everyone is listed except him.

Nascar visits Daytona this weekend! Friday and Saturday night... Guess who's got a stalled front sitting right over the central part of the state? FLORIDA!!! lol Probably gonna rain everything they have planned out.. Maybe some afternoon laps, if we're lucky.  :'(  Last weeks race at Michigan was pretty good!! Above average for these new pieces of shit IMSA stock cars.  :raspberry:

I’m still waiting for the team to announce when training camp starts. Apparently it’s a state secret.

The Caps first preseason game is September 22. I’ve not seen a start date yet for camp.

The Caps first regular season game is October 12 vs New Jersey. The NHL season officially starts October 4 & 5 with New Jersey vs Buffalo in Prague. The rest of the league starts on Oct 8.

This from July 15. They’ve had to know when camp starts since then.

Harrison Burton wins Daytona Cup race.. Another last place points car makes the "playoffs" with win and in format.  :-|  New winners are fun but that win and in format (playoffs in general) needs to be rethunk in Nascar. Totally stupid.

Was pretty much a wreck fest all night. Numerous "big ones". Josh Berry took a ride upside down and hit the wall a ton, but was ok. McDowell should of went upside down but somehow his car settled back down. All the usual "guns" were crashed out before the end. Kyle Busch missed all the carnage, led on the white flag lap, got too far of a lead and his line never got back to push him.. Some other no name pushed Burton to the lead and the win. Busch could of turned him coming to the line, but showed veteran, Championship restraint.  :raspberry:  lol

Won't be long before they're all in full goalie gear.    :raspberry:   Not an unexpected reaction to a bizarre incident.   I mean how many times has this actually happened in hockey before?

On a plus note, I'm happy that Oshie has a hockey related business to fall back on.   ;)    Maybe the company should go into road cycling.   Bruuuutal! :snicker:

The only two that come to mind are Malarchuk in 1989 and former Cap Richard Zednik in 2008. Weird that both happened in Buffalo..
