Happy New Year to all! In about an hour I go over to my son’s house and spend New Years Eve with his two big friendly labs, a black and a chocolate. The one will sleep with me. He and his wife are in Philadelphia overnight. I will tap his decanter of scotch.
Let me help you out. Which way did you come in?

Wonder if that info is public available anywhere? I don't care about offside, I just want to see the "league" average of GI, when challenged from coaches vs the "situation room".  I'd bet a lot of money that the "situation room" has at least a 2/1 advantage over when teams challenge it. I actually wonder if a GI from Toronto has ever been denied?

Most of those people don't interact. Sammi and Tarik are the worst. Just post data. NovaCaps does every once in a while. But Ted Starkey interacts. I guess he's not as busy as those others. I talk to him all the time during games.

I have no doubt that statistic is tracked. It just a matter of finding it easily. I gotta assume there is a pay for service for some of that given some of the obscure stats the announcers come up with during a broadcast.

Good to hear Fever should be back and Chucky isn't as bad as once thought. Paci and Oshie? Would love to see them come in and make a difference, but I've been a DC sports fan for too long to let that shit get me excited. Either they both suck or look good and get injured again in short order. It's just how we roll.  :raspberry:  Seems like Milano is gonna get heathy just in time to be a scratch. Or more likely, someone else will be injured by then. I remember we used to go all season w/o many if any injuries that were more than day to day..

The Caps will play their 5th back to back in 4 weeks tomorrow and Wednesday. Both games at 7:30 because they are national.

So am I to understand that Toronto can initiate a GI review in the last minute of a game or anytime in OT and...
therefore if the goal had been scored 6/10 of a second earlier (it was scored with 59.5 seconds left), then Toronto can't call for the review?
If it's not obviously interference then let it go.  If a guy runs the goalie (or lets say....knocks him down and stands over him in the crease), then its GI.
Unless your a Caps goalie...then its okay to knock you down and stand over you in the crease...not interference then.
Either way...that was a BS call.  THere needs to be some level of accountability for these calls.  Well...there needs to be a well defined criteria for what GI is, but we will never get that because then you could argue the shitty calls.
I say if it the rule is NOT improving the quality of the game then get rid of it.  THe fucking offsides nonsense it ridiculous.
Most of these offsides and GI reviews are not adding to the quality of the game.

Oh and Toronto hates the Caps...that's pretty fucking obvious

I didn't really want to see the Caps get beat by Shittsburgh and fall into 7th place in the division anyway

Carbs said after the game, the puck actually went in the net at like 18:59. Score keeper hit the button late (like normal) but I guess they can't review that. Even if they could, Toronto had already called in with the iron fist, asking for a review, so the cheat was already in motion.

I asked all the usuals on Twitt and nobody can answer what "need" there is for Toronto to "ask" for anything.. Teams can challenge, there is no "limit", so it's totally a heavy handed way of Toronto (NHL) asking their employee's to check something they think is wrong. Also can't get anyone to tell me how many GI requests from Toronto have ever been upheld. My guess is 0%. What ref is gonna tell their employer, "nah, I got it right, go pound sand"??

Starting Kuemper - so, like you, I'm not interested in watching us lose another one 5-1 will multiple soft goals.

Still playing Philips.

Still trying to pair Kuzy and Ovie.

Would have loved to have seen Carbs give3 Shep another start, if only to light a fire under DK's ass.

Has Strome on the third line pairing with Philips and Lappy.

Maybe it's just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic,

Sadly...I kind of like Carbs, but WTF do you do when NOBODY is scoring?  I mean rearrange all you want, but when Nobody is scoring what good is that?
I'd leave the one line that is working together; McMike/Mantha/Protus producing well over their expectation.

Kuemper...meh...he's about as effective as the rest of this team.  Lindy, I think is only slightly better in that he is more of a scrambler, but he leaves ALOT of the top half open.  I don't see us winning a Cup with either of them, but then...I don't see this team winning a Cup regardless.  I give Lindy the nod on better opportunity to win, but mostly cause he's got a better shot at stopping pucks when being left out to dry often.
I'm kind of surprised at both GT shootout numbers...I mean Kuemper has been unbeatable in the SO and he's not really a big save kind of guy IMO. Lindy seems more of a breakaway stopper to me, but he sure hasn't been so in the SO.

Caps are a mediocre team.

I'm ready for some Caps hockey but not sure I'm ready to watch the Hens blow them up in Shittsburgh on "National TV".  (If you can call fuckin HULU national TV)

It doesn’t appear to many people noticed, but OV has now scored in two games in a row.

Caps are currently 5th in the metro, if they win tonight the will be 3rd, if they lose they will be 6th.

Pacioretty is officially off of LTIR/IR and is listed as active. Early speculation has Pacs in and Phillips scratched. Lindgren has been moved to IR, which means it’s Shepard in goal tonight.

That doesn’t mean Lindy is worse than “day to day” as these things are applied retroactively. Could just be a cap move.

Seems like week to week to me, since he can't play for at least a week now.

edit: Nevermind, I see what you mean. They can start his IR from the time of the original injury. (Had to explain it for the Hillbilly)  :raspberry:

I'm afraid Pacs is just going to bring us another old slow guy that has already gone over the cliff. I know it was one game, but I'm not expecting much.  They have to pay him another $2 million in incentives if he plays 20 games, so maybe they don't keep him around long. We need to use that roster spot to get more experience for the younger guys from Hershey (not Phillips) so we know what we have.

Yea, he's as slow as I imagined. They said something about a no trade/move clause? Not sure what that means as far as waiving him or sending him to hershey? But certainly don't see him getting 20 games if last night was an indicator.

Two things, you can’t get up to game speed if you don’t play in a game. Pacs is going to need several games to get up to speed. But, Caps never should have signed him. They should have filled that perceived hole with someone from Hershey. Nothing personal to Pacs.
