Yes, but you know, I'm not all that excited about it.  The problem for me is that it is largely the career AHL veterans who are doing it for Hershey, not the limited prospects that are there.  Understand, if the Bears  win the Calder Cup it will be another feather in the cap of the players and the franchise that is the AHL's gold standard.  But all it will mean is that Hershey was able to build the best AHL franchise, not that it portends especially promising things for the Caps in the future (the way it did back in 2010, for example).

yea, the NHL said they’d broadcast the game on the NHL network, but this is the NHL we are talking about. As such we got fucked again. On the bright side, Hershey wins game 5 in OT 1-0, takes the series lead 3-2. Games 6 & 7* are in California. Game 6 is Monday night at 10pm.

I saw they went to OT. Glad they got the dub! But that's bullshit if NHLnet said they show the remaining games, then didn't. I figured it was only on in DC area or something.. Whatever... Amateur hour from NHLnet.

This series is the exact AHL counterpart to the Stanley Cup finals that the Caps won.  Upstart expansion franchise in its first season reaches the Cup finals and it's up to the Washington-based franchise to defend "the Hockey Establishment."  Although Hershey is more the AHL establishment than the Caps were the NHL establishment, since they had no prior winning history.

Looks like Coachella has been able to dictate the pace of play there, the Bears in Hershey.

May come down to the extra home game.

Is the game televised on NBCSN-Washington or what the fuck ever it is called now?
Or do you got to have some sort of internet crystal ball pirated channel to watch it?

The game is supposed to be on NBCSW and the NHL channel. I’ll watch the first half at minimum, maybe the whole game if Hershey is winning

I feel like I'll jinx em' if I tune in. Don't look like they stand a chance away from home anyway.  :-( I have enough sports grief in my life.  :snicker:

So Hershey won game 7.  At least McMichael and LaPierre scored the goals  to tie it up after Hershey fell into a 0-2 hole to begin.  'Bout time the prospects showed up.  After 3 lopsided losses in CA the Bears somehow found a way to pull it together last night.  Good for them.

Wow, coming back on the road in a game 7, down 2-0.. Pretty sweet! Hockey dodged another misjustice, with a brand new team competing for the top prize in it's first season.

How about some draft speculation?  Rumors are that the Caps are trying to move up a few spots to get the Russian - Michkov.  The kid is supposed to be a special talent with high scoring upside. He is shown at 5' 10" and 148 pounds but is one of the younger guys.  Do we need to put all our eggs in the Russia basket after our top pick last year?  I guess I wouldn't mind getting him, but REALLY hope they don't do something stupid like giving up our 1st round pick next year to move up 3 spots.  We very well could have another lottery pick next year.
