Maybe. I assume you are referring to Samsonov's disciplinary faux pas. But actually, the team may be in a bit of an awkward position here. I assume Kuznetsov is going to resume his center position after his discipline is finished. If he's back in the lineup, why shouldn't Samsonov resume playing, and have a chance to start in the playoffs as well? If they let Kuzy back in, don't they have to have at least the appearance of "treating Samsonov equally?"
Our goaltending in the playoffs is going to be a total unknown. I fully expect that we will see both goalies as the playoffs progress. Maybe the choice between the two should be made on the basis of "which goalie would you rather have in reserve to come in if/when the playoff starter falters?" I think that may have been PRECISELY the thinking that went into choosing Grubauer over Holtby to start the playoffs in 2018.
