Yeah, but that's nothing new, is it.  We know that's going to happen when we play this team.  The extra, dumb penalties we took are what made the difference, imho.

It it just me or do we look slow? And they must of had a different camera to look at. All the ones I saw looked like crossbar. That angle of the camera shaking didn't show shit, imo. Isn't there a camera above the net, in the rafters? Show me the puck crossing with that one..

   Sammy needs to improve his game or he will lose the starting job. I didn't think he looked good. Fought the puck. Had trouble controlling rebounds,  doesn't cover the 5 hole very well.  He also was down on the ice too early too often.

Sadly, there was no definite proof to overturn the call on the ice.
What I don't quite get however, is that the "white box" that they say it hit, it was a camera, right?  Then why couldn't they just rewind it a tad to see if there's a little black biscuit blotting out the sun.

Yeah, he wasn't great, was he.  A bit too casual for my liking.

Maybe third game in four days after 8 months off is part of it but Jesus Groot looks like he’s skating on cement. NBC was all over his knob but he looked WAY too slow to compete. He uses his size  reach and experience well but guys skate bye him with no trouble


NBC guys must have a contract  with NHL NOT TO EVER disagree with a call on the ice whether a penalty or a goal or whatever

I was just looking at the schedule. I kinda like this two games at a time thing. This eastern conference is highly reminiscent of the old Patrick division, I like it.

I didn't see much of the game because I had other commitments, but I did see the crossbar/camera shot.  I can't say that I saw anything other than the puck hit the crossbar.  I don't agree with the "we would have heard if it hit the crossbar" stuff.  That puck was lifted, not shot.


But anyway, what I really didn't like was the effort in the shootout.  All 4 Caps just carried the puck in, did very little dekeing, and shot it into the goalie.  You ain't gonna beat anybody that way.  The Caps may have felt worn out.  It wasn't 3 games in 4 days, it was 3 in 3 1/2 days.  And keep in mind that the teams have had relatively little training and no preseason games.  In a sense, we may be seeing glorified preseason hockey right now.

Yeah it's been rough games so far but we have to remember:

1) Compact season with less rest days

2) No preseason for warming up

3) New coach / new system will take time to adjust. Based on how we've played with prior new coaches I feel like it's taken 20-30 games before we really get into a groove


What do we have going for us though? We have a coach who's a real coach. Last time we had a real coach we were able to win the Cup. I wouldn't put pressure on Lavi to win us the Cup this season considering the circumstances but I sure as hell hope we get into a groove by next year and can really go for it. I also get the sense that our defensive depth will be helpful. Lots of NHL capable defensive players will pay off when we're playing on a tight schedule and guys are tired but have to play 20-30 mins a night. Other teams without the same level of depth may end up overworking their top guys. We can shift out someone and bring in a TVR, MF, Siegs, etc.

We also have a bigger team than most (top 5 heaviest teams in NHL), and we've got some tough guys who can really hit and punish. I think this size can also pay off if we're properly punishing opposing teams (and their D) and wearing them down. I do think over the course of a lengthy series this benenfits us.

But we are fighting against: 1) we have an older team than most so maybe the tight schedule will cause us to get a little more winded than younger teams; 2) adjusting to a new coach/system. If we were a little more youthful and this were season #2 of Lavi I'd probably feel more optimistic. But of course we wasted time with dumbass TR.
