He missed a couple and Murray save an extra couple. Yes, Caps could still win, but it makes a big difference. Caps had plenty of opportunities and somehow couldn't finish or Murray came big. Ovie wasn't himself, he doesn't miss his shot on PP very often. The team wasn't clicking, a way too many turnovers, but it was a very winnable game.
Well said Raven!
I thought Samsonov played an excellent game. Murray simply stood on his head, and was outstanding in goal today.
Hens had 2 legit goals, and two partial puck luck goals. It happens.
Sammy was the ONLY reason we still had a chance to win, going into the 3rd. Making several rapid fire saves, facing a crease PACKED with penguins, seemingly able to swipe multiple times at the puck, on, BLUE ICE!!....WHY the Caps allowed this to happen is one of the MAIN issues!
Sammy stayed calm, under pressure, as he handed over, to his UNDESERVING teammates, a 3rd period, that was thankfully, STILL within reach of winning, in what could easily have been out of reach!
Hens were ALL OVER the crease, and net crashing, especially through the 2nd period, while our guys puck watched, often, the first 2 periods!
Our PK was good, but PP, AGAIN, could have made the difference! They pathetically DID NOT!
Caps get decent credit for majorly upping their game in the 3rd, but although their “we can dial it in, when we want”, mentality, is a very REAL thing, (and we’re lucky we even have a team that has the option to do so!), and when they “bring it”, it’s extremely successful, but NOT 100% guaranteed, as Mr. Murray kindly informed them by games end!!!
Some of these cockier Caps skaters, unfortunately still feel that their “Dial it in” time, when executed, is completely impervious, and renders their opponents helpless!
Admittedly, most of the time they’re right!
BUT NOT EVERY TIME!!!
Lesson learned, (hopefully), by some of the more immature minded, youngins, on our team, that are realizing they are fallible!!😁
