Now that is the Stanley Cup Caps I know and love. That was a very good game for us all around, especially in the third. They got one goal and we instantly battered down the hatches, not only took the offensive and work ethic aspect of the game including 5 on 5 in that third but also played stellar shut down play. Were nearly doubling them up in shots in the third.
I remember this being a trip that we did well on last year, perhaps I'm mistaken. But I do recall us heading through Western Canada the Van, Edmonton and Calgary trip if you will and having a bunch of good games last season. Perhaps my memory is just there due to recalling Kuzy dominating the Oilers and looking like the best player on the ice when challenged with facing McDavid. Obviously that team still isn't a full team yet, but I like that we use the W Canada trip to assert not just good games but games the way we should be playing. All three of the teams I listed fall into the youth/hype/speed train and they are exactly the type of teams I feel if we play the right game we can stutter down, control, and then score on. They allow us to really highlight our new identity, the one people finally saw more of in last seasons Cup finals.
