Maybe the embellishment call was to make up for the fact it wasn't a penalty in the first place. He had just touched the puck a second before he was hit.
That was a definite interference penalty.
I went back to watch a few times on my DVR and he touched the puck as it went by just a moment before he got hit, which means it can't be interference.
