Deja vu all over again.  This game was virtually a replay of the Ottawa game.

The Caps don't seem to be built very well for the 3 on 3 overtime game.  But of course, that doesn't exist in the playoffs.

Yea, coaches 4x4 and 3x3 lineups are odd. We always put Carlson out, like it's some kind of seniority privilege? Last night I think McMike just got beat to the slot in OT, but during the game 4x4, Carlsons out. Start of OT, Carlson's out. Just seems like we're taking a bullet out of the gun before the fight even starts. He's slooooow and his offensive skills aren't what they used to be either. If it's a responsibility thing, Fever runs rings around him. Skills, Chicky is the guy. I'd trust Sandin too. I mean if you never try it you'll never know. He rarely puts Ovi out, due to how slow he is, not sure what the hold up is with Carlson.

We may be able to avoid some of that if we played 60 minutes. Last couple we didn't even warm up till the 2nd or 3rd period.

We were terrible in our own end all night getting beat to pucks and losing board battles as well as leaving too many guys open for quality chances.  Why we put our slowest guys out there for OT is simply a head scratcher.  Frank should get a chance out there with his speed.  Chychrun and Sandin too and no Carlson.  He's practically useless in that situation.  Overall, not a good effort.  We were lucky to get it to OT but I wasn't surprised at all at the finish.

I watched an extended replay of Ovechkin's goal last night.  After he moved the puck ahead in the defensive zone and others carried it out and moved it into the offensive zone, Ovie was REALLY laboring to get up the ice.  After he crossed center ice he just sort of drifted into the offensive zone, content to be a late guy in which gave him room to get off his shot.  I wonder if we are going to see more of that going forward, Ovie being a late attacker so that defenses have trouble picking him up.

I wonder if he's really lost something he will never regain as a result of that broken leg.
