I can't see this crew winning a game.  They look totally outclassed.  When the Rangers decide to turn it up, we have no answers.  Unless Lindgren could cobble together a shutout or one goal game, they won't have to bother returning to NYC.

The Caps are outclassed.  They are outmatched in every aspect of the game.  The Rags are better at every single aspect.  We don't match up with them anywhere.
Even Carbs system of man on man hurts vs Rags because we are weaker by each man and slower.  When one guy can't keep his man, they have an advantage or open man.  When 4 of the 5 cant stay with their man....well...you get what we had here last week...
The Caps simply are not good enough, and they are not catching any breaks either.  They'd have to get some breaks, Lindy have exceptional game, and maybe we could steal one.  We hang with them for moments or stretches of games, but not for an entire game.

We are all disappointed, but is anyone surprised by this?

Oh, and I caught some of the Oilers 1st game...man when they are clicking, they are friggin awesome to watch.  They'd make the Rags look slow.
They are suspect in goal though IMO.

I'm certainly not.  And it shows why the team's integrity in willing itself to the playoffs with this crew, while it was noble, has NOT been in the best interests of the franchise.  When you lose your top two centers and have no remotely equivalent replacements, and when half your defense is injured, you can't compete.  It isn't just the players you lose.  It's the guys you have to move up in the lineup to play against opponents they don't match up against.  That's why a few top players can make all the difference to a team.  It isn't just their capabilities; it's that they move other players down in the lineup to play against guys they match up better against.

Yea, most all the other games look much faster than ours because we aren't in them. :snicker:   This team needs a comprehensive rebuild and I'm not convinced we have the management (see GM) to get it right.  Our recent drafting has certainly been less than auspicious.

I agree.  I do.

However...   I am never going to knock a team for trying and putting in an effort.  Just rolling over is not in ANY athlete's DNA.   Yes, we will lose, but let's at least make them earn it.

If you were looking for new players, would you pick a quitter?  Would you even take a second glance at any Caps player?

We need to show some fight.   Unfortunately we don't have a leader anymore.
Unless somebody steps up to that role, we're just a bunch of icecapades.

Huh.   I'm trying to figure out how to do a poll thingamy...........

For who anybody thinks might be our next leader.???

Ovi is done.
Backus is gone

Oshie is fucked.
Patches isn't even a question.

Willy pretty much fucked himself.

That leaves, out of the "old guard"..........   O-O .....   Dylan.    Yes, Mr Volcano himself, is our only hope.    :lmao:

You know what?  If there was a viscious rumour going round that he turns up at practices early to train with some of our sproglets, I'd be pretty happy with that.     Does he?

The only other candidate, in my eyes, is Chucky.

We have a hand full of old, tired, bored, lazy vets and a gaggle of headless chicken sproglets, with no guidance or direction.

I'm starting to have serious questions about Carbs........

Well when you say leader...do you mean Captain?  Tom Wilson is a leader on this team, as is JC.  I expect he or John Carlson will next wear the C, but Johnny might be done the same time as Ovi.
Lindy..no...he might not even be here after next year.. He is a UFA after next season.  And you can't have a goalie as team captain even if you wanted to (which you wouldn't)
If you just mean leader and not Captain, then again...Wilson and Carlson are both leaders on and off the ice.  Wilson is pretty active in the community and with multiple charities as well.. Sure some of that is image building and marketing, but he does seem a genuinely decent fellow.
I don't understand what you mean when you say Wilson F'd himself?
Wilson and Strome are committed long term to this team.  I expect Wilson will be the next team Captain, but Ovie has two more years (at least) so who knows what other veterans this team will acquire in the next two full seasons.

As far as Carbs..I think he has done an excellent job with the assets at his disposal.  Most of the young guys have taken a step forward this year and that's what this team needed.  You can't blame the coach when your old guys just get older....and older...and slower.
