I don’t see any notifications of a call up from Hershey. They do have a spare Dman in Johansen should they need one. Hell of a time to throw him in the lineup though.

So Ovi just looks gassed.  A long season and all those games at the end did him no favors. For that matter, I think the whole team was exhausted at the end and could have used a few days off.  Three days in between now would help a lot.

So they get three days rest which hopefully will get Ovi what he needs to get going.


I still hope they bring in Sgarabosa.  Ideally he would replace Pacioretti who has been a waste of a jersey.  Apparently he refused a trade at the deadline which ticks me off and should be reason enough for them to sit him - however, the rest of the league would consider that a slap in the face to a renowned veteran - so they won't do it.


If they don't sit Pacioretti, I would it Protas and send him a message.  He has just done nothing the last 30 games and when he does get a chance at scoring he has hands of stone.  They need to light a fire under him.


I hate to say it, but they also should sit Oshie.  He has made a bunch of bad decisions and turnovers and I'm afraid he is just done. Love his heart, but his legs and body can't do it on a consistent basis.

They should sit Ovi, Oshie and Pacioretty, tbh. None of em are doing anything worthy of getting a sweater, plus Ovi's goals don't count in the playoffs, if he ever does get one.. But they'll burn em' completely out and hope for the best Im sure. 


Should have called up Frank and Crystall and whoever else would like to get a few minutes of playoff hockey on their resume. Ryan Leonard wanting to do another year in peewee is also a disappointment. He'll probably break a knee or something and we'll never see him. Caps Hockey! lol

I know what I want to happen next game.....   I don't just want Panarin's head, I want a full line out!  Every single one of them.
We know we're gonna lose the series, no question.  What we can't afford to lose is the faith, loyalty and fight in and for each other.

We need to fight for each other and be seen to do it.

That's what I want.

As futile as it may be.

Unfortunately, I don't like our chances in a physical game and in the fight department.  Yes, we have Willy and probably will have McIlrath - who apparently has fought Rempe before, but overall the Rags are a more physical team.


The Panarin hit was definitely over the line, but those kind of hits always start the arguments of what was hit first and what the intent was.....  The Rags fans are convinced it was "totally clean" and the Caps fans think there should be a suspension.  I actually wish they would get more hitting back in the game and just let these marginal ones go.  I don't want guys to take head shots, but we are trending toward the IceCapades, even in the playoffs.

So Ovi's season has been interesting and somewhat misleading. I would say the first half showed a substantial decline in his physical condition and his goal output was lousy - but not undeserved. He then got hot, but it wasn't the old Ovi with a lot of energy and decent skating. He got some bounces and empty net goals  - enough so, that it reignited the talk/hope of him passing Gretzky.   Then we have the end of the year and the playoffs and Ovi has looked like an old man with zero energy.


I don't think he passes Gretzky unless he plays 3 more years and they keep trotting him out there just for the record and hope he gets enough empty netters to get it done. It could be a sad/embarrassing scenario.


He should quit before that happens and if so, he should still be viewed as the greatest goal scorer ever - when you factor in the differences between when he played vs when Gretzky played.

summer vacation has started …

It is clear the series would have been different with our Dmen.    Overall good season considering with a good number of draft picks and some exciting prospects in the wings.  Going to watch Zach Funk this week in person a couple of times, see what he brings for next year.

Ovi said he was "healthy" during the playoff series. Just another example of being too old, big and slow for playoff intensity. Oshie proved that theory as well. Those guys should be buried on the bench in high intensity games, save only for PP maybe. Carlson looks like he's got another year in him, though not sure at 25 minutes a night. Be nice to find his replacement so he could get 15-20 max and be fresh at the end of games. Going to be interesting offseason. Hope GMBM doesn't  the bed.
