What'd I miss, other then Lil admitting she watches porn?    :raspberry: :snicker:

Saw the Ovi bomb.. Looked nasty! And yep, Kuemper is what we got. Probably 3/4 of the time, or more.. Hopefully he's up to it! Never did hear why Colorado let him go? Sounds nearly as bad as letting the head coach go, after winning a cup?

cheesus this roval thing is ignorant

It’s the BOA 400 at The Roval, which is 109 laps for a total of 252.8 miles, which is 406.8 kilometers.

These races would be a minimum of 30 minutes shorter without the stupid stage breaks. Back when guys got points/money for leading at the halfway mark there were no breaks, they just kept on runnin.

I wish to point out how lovely this site is.
None of that vitriol that was prevalent in previous sites.
It would be nice to have more people active, for sure, but only if they can carry on in this vein.
We can disagree about stuff, but we don't have to be obnoxious about it.
I went to the "dark side" (the other stream) a while back, but that didn't turn out well.........  There were some very disturbing conversations on there....
I prefer to see the better in people,.  Even though I know that's not the reality.

Thank you for keeping this going.   :koolaid: :wow:

Im not a big fan of road racing anyway, but that "roval" is a shit show. It's made for go-karts or Mazda Miata's or something. And next year they'll have that one plus a shit show street race in Chicago.  :clown: :poop:

The Caps placed Axel Jonsson-Fjallby, Lucas Johansen, Henrik Borgstrom and Brett Leason on waivers. If no one else claims them by 2:00pm , they will be sent to Hershey. Backy, Willy, Hags and Alex Alexeyev have been placed on IR. Teams need to be down to 23 active players by 5:00pm today.

Not a huge fan of road racing either, but Watkins Glen and some of the more established road courses don't bother me as much as this Roval and the road course they've put inside other speedways [Daytona, Indy].  I guess from the fan in the stands experience it's nice that you can see the whole track, but it's just too gimmicky for me.

It was relative calm for 99% of the race, then it was all hell breaking loose at the end.  hate that Larson, probably the best driver out there isn't moving on, but kind of cool that a kid like Bell throws a hail mary, wins, and moves on.

I figured Axel was to be one cut - just hadn't seen much from him this year.  Borgstrom not a surprise either or Leason.  Borgrstrom we just picked up over the summer, no?
I think Protus's play this camp and preseason dictated the Borgstrom waiver move.  Borgy is a center with decent size - I would not be surprised if someone grabs him - although I know absolutely nothing about his play other than looking at his stats - he is only 25 and has 100+ NHL games played and he was a 1st round pick.  A little odd we sign him as a UFA and then put him on waivers, but I definitely thought Protus was a standout this early season - hard not to be with his size.
I'm a little surprised Lucas Johansen was waived over Irwin, but Lavvy really has history with Irwin and he seems a real decent fellow.  Also I read Alexeyev is on IR and will be back so they will need room for him - so I figure Lucas is backseat to ALexeyev anyway.
I'm a little surprised I guess that Snively made the cut.  He skates well and made some noise last year, but I would think Borgstrom might have a bigger upside.  Snively is a little undersized, and he is 26 so his time is now (or never)

Tough decisions, but good problems to have.  We have quite a few guys in the pipeline that could evolve into full time NHL guys - assuming they clear waivers

So if another NHL team claims a guy off waivers - does that team have to keep him on their NHL roster for a certain period?

Based on what we’ve seen very recently, I’d say no. The Caps have waived guys only to get them right back in a trade.

I was not overly impressed with Keumper in the SC playofffs - which he DID win The Cup.  I think he was about the best available this summer in the Caps price range.
I do think he has been solid in what I've seen so far.  He has a very respectable GAA average over his career - even with some sketchy teams in front of him.

I think he is solid and stable and that's all the Caps wanted - was a known entity that they could rely on to provide a reasonable solid presence in goal.   I don't think he will be the guy making 10-bell saves every night, but he can get the job done.

Let's hope so, anyway.

Bummer.  Lost two guys on waivers - that's kind of steep.  Should be a limit to one per team per....(day or week or over a certain time period or something).
There were only a total of five waivers claimed in all of NHL and two of them from the Caps.  That's like punishing teams for drafting  & developing well. (not that that is usually a Caps problem)

Sucks to see these guys go.  Both those guys have decent potention - Leason is a big boy 6'-5" and only 23.  Sucks to lose one, much less two of our draft pic guys - especially since we have had so few in recent years.

Opening night on Wednesday at home will be a nationally televised game on TNT. As such, I expect puck drop to be about 7:20. The roster has been announced, but it will be Wednesday before lines are…

What you said.  With the Caps having given a lot of draft picks away in recent years trying to bolster the playoff roster, the fact that they have enough players to fill a roster AND overflow that other teams covet says something about the competence of their draft/development process.

Having said that, there is a distinct possibility that at least Alex J/F could be re-waived and coming back -- we'll see.  Leason is another issue:  His big rig status may be appealing.
