Morning my lovelies. :wackysmile:Good morning.
Welll sheeeot, that's about all the time I got tonight.. Hope for the best! Catch you boys and girls next time.
Jesus The Habs have two Dman as healthy scratches that are better than 4 or 6 of our Dman. . .,and Shea Weber’s still out. . .I dont believe that. Maybe better than Djoos.
Conno !!!You're a but late we have scored another goal since then. Sweet pass from Wilson. He really does have some skill.
I really wish the Caps had more than one player that knew how to fight,
why did the Habs get a pp out of that
I really wish the Caps had more than one player that knew how to fight, because Feminism is en vougue
Because they are Montreal and we are Washington, but you already knew that. And I thought Montreal should gave gotten a penalty for boarding DSP
I don't recall ever seeing before roughing calls on the same play between two players where one player got called twice. That's happened quite often over the years.
ETA
And on top of that ANOTHER player had to serve one of them.
What happened? I sneezed and we gave up three goals?
I did not see a high stick on that replay. :huh:Is there something wrong with your eye sight? It happened. It was as fucking stupid penalty.
I was hoping that emojie moved...
"Finally solved Price" ??? ? We've solved him twice before in this game you stupid Hab comms! :raspberry: Glad to see Ove read my post....... ;)
Is there something wrong with your eye sight? It happened. It was as fucking stupid penalty.I watched the replay a few times and I never saw his stick anywhere but near the ice. I saw a possible elbow to the face.

That was a horrible force feed of Ovi by Carlson. The Canadian player cheated on the play. Why woulkdnt he? Our pp is not the same with Eller and Wilson out there.
Eller is not playing well.
[/quote/]
Eller hasn't really played well at any time this season thus far. He isn't necessarily a guy I'd expect to have a Stanley Cup hangover, but who knows? Being moved up to the top 6 doesn't really suit him -- he really is a #3 center -- but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Eller is a meathead. I think he had a couple decent games this but the rest have been terrible. He has actually been on the ice for more 5 on 5 goals against than any other Caps player. Its been a pretty brought season for him. Started when he got embarrassed by Marchand for showboating on the 7th goal of a 7-0 blowout.
That was probably the worse 2nd period we have played this season. The first two minutes was about as bad as it gets. Hopefully we can pull this out although we are getting outshot by a wide margin. Have to tighten up. Holtby is looking good so that is a plus. Now we need to get Kuzy and Oshie back although I doubt whether they will play Wednesday since the Caps do not practice tomorrow. They won’t play until they have practiced with the team.
I take it Eller is your new pet hate?Ive never been a Eller fan. He will have a couple decent games and then a dozen bad games. Takes dumb penalties. He is a pussy.
Ovi is ridiculous. No kidding. What a shot.
Maaaaaan! What we could have done with Oshie in front of that net! Seems he's the only one who can stand the heat in the kitchen.I dont mind Wilson on the pp.
Get well soon our boys. :hearts:
I dont mind Wilson on the pp.
No kidding. What a shot.
I don't mind Willy anywhere - apart from in the box..... ;D
fnaaar, fnaaar.........
I stand by and upright in my original statement.
You sure you wouldn't want him in the box?
WOW!! Awesome!!Great play by Wilson. Great shot from Ovi. Better save by Price.
As of this moment,Why are you watching that when you can be watching this incredible game?
Calgary 7 Vegas 0 early in the 2nd
Fla 7 Ott 5
Buf 5 Pgh 4 OT
Caps/Mtl 4-4 late.
This is NOT the NHL of recent years, folks. You'd see about one of these types of scores a night -- maybe. Thinking about what is acceptable performance, especially defensively, is going to have to change.
Good they won in OT. With Kuznetsov and Oshie out, who would they have used in a shootout? That is a good point. I am sure Nicky and Ovi would have been two of the shooters not sure who the third would be, maybe Vrana.

All the faceoff men was because our guys kept getting kicked out.
I'd say they should have used Wilson. He could skate straight for the goalie at top speed and hope to terrify him into allowing a goal.
Goodness, did Wilson fill up the scoresheet tonight. He even won 3 of 4 face-offs he took. Note that 9 -- that's NINE -- Caps forwards took face-offs tonight. It may be one of those cases where, if you have 9 face-off men, you really have no face-off men.
That was probably the best period of hockey I've watched this year. Kept looking at the clock to see if we were on the PP. Allstar caliber goaltending on both ends.. OT winner.. Good times!! OK, catch ya'll next one.. FOr Reals Dis time! You tease! :P
So nice to be able to share this game with you guys and gals. What jolly japes!
I've missed you too. :hearts:
don't disappear for weeks on end :raspberry:
I've missed you too. :hearts:
Family stuff. Helping my 80 plus year old aunt with my 90 plus year old uncle who has advanced alzheimer's. Late nights are difficult when I have to be up in the mornings. They had an emergency recently and I only got back this evening. ( I live just over two hours drive away from them at the moment. )
Couple things (or maybe more than a couple)...after the fact as usual. I watched the game from about 11:30 - 1:30 (actually fell asleep at the end of the third) :(
Anyway
I don't understand all the "hate" for Eller. He has filled his role (third line center) quite adequately over the last three seasons at a reasonable price. I though his first season he played much better than his stats or numbers indicated. Last season was probably a career year for him, but he does score some timely goals. He hustles, he USUALLY plays decent two-way center. He has some skills. He can handle/protect the puck fairly well. I think he is missing some offensive finish (maybe cause he's Danish...yuk yuk) which is why he is a 3rd line center.
I will acknowledge he is not having a good year this year, but considering the alternatives..., I think he is about what we paid for and should expect. When you have Backy and Kuzy as your barometer, then any third line center is going to pale in comparison. All things considered, I think Eller is just fine.
Why do Montreal fans boo Eller? They team didn't want him and traded him to the Caps. The Caps eventually resigned him. How is this Eller's fault? Do you just boo ANY player that used to be on your team or is there something I'm missing about Eller specifically? Do Caps fans boo Forsberg or Brower or Schmitty...etc when they play in Washington? Do the Blues fans boo Oshie?
I'm not sure I'd pair him with Ovie/Wilson on the top line, but if you were to put Backy in there, would you really want a Eller/Vrana/Burka line(yikes). Guess for emergency and trying to spread the talent and responsibility over the lines....
Geez, I'm starting to sound like Maako protecting Dylan here.
I didn't really like Burka on line 2, but Burka just isn't a 3/4 line guy. Honestly, Burka needs to go. He's dead weight, especially at the salary. He can't break into the top two lines on this team and he IS NOT a 3/4 line guy. He is overpaid for occasional glimpses of talent. Move him and give someone else a 3/4 line role that fits it.
I like Bowey in the lineup and I'm really liking Boyd. Boyd has some wheels and hopefully he is taking his chance and showing us something. I'd rather see Boyd and Jaskin in the lineup before Burka. (yes, I realize they are centers/wings, etc) but make it fit. When Oshie and Kuzy are back, you move eller to 3c, move Connolly and Stephenson to 3. Boyd/Dowd at 4c with Jaskin and Smith Pelly (assuming all the lefties and righties fit
Anyway, pretty good game, except for about 90 seconds of it. Felt bad for Copley - don't think that was on him, but 3 goals in 75 seconds gets anyone pulled. Hope it does not effect his ju-ju.
Holtby looked good (sigh of relief)
Happy Turkey to all you peeps. I'm out and probably miss the next three games altogether...well at least till I watch a replay next week sometime.
GO CAPS
I have to disagree with you as well. Eller bad plays out weight the good. Last game he managed to score the OT goal but he did not have a good game. He is a very inconsistent player. He has a couple of good games and people are fooled into thinking we have some special. Those people give him a free pass when he shits the bed for the next 10.
His strength is his puck possession. He has no other strengths. He doesnt have a great shot. He isnt a great passer in fact most of the time he doesnt even look when he passes. The odd time one if his passes gets through. Most are turnovers. He also takes lazy and selfish penalties. Like the double minor against Montreal. He is also overrated defensively. He has been in the ice for more goals against than any other Caps forward. And its not like he is matching against top lines. That's Backstrom line that gets that assignment.
Comparing Eller to Backstrom is an insult to Backstrom. Sure he has some decent games but when he isn't playing well he is closer to a Burakovsky than he is a Backstrom.
I have never been a fan of his game because if his inconsistent play. I have lost whatever respect I had for him in the first game of the season. When he was over celebrating on the 7th goal of a 7-0 game. Eller got his ass kicked for that. I would have kicked his ass too. It was classless.

Damn right!See what I mean. I agree with you on a lot of things. On most teams your 3rd line center is more know as a checker. But on this team Backstrom is the checking center.
Eller is what he is, a one-way. at best primary, offensive center that can’t crack the top two lines. While he gets a big goal now then, he simply is not the excellent two-way, shutdown, possession, and special teams player that is needed for the the cliche “3rd Center” that has been branded on his forehead. I can’t think of many teams that would tolerate their “3rd Center”, being below 50% faceoffs, or the substandard Dplay. or mistakes.
Ideally he’d be moved over to wing and let Stevenson/Boyd take over that spot
Damn right!

(correction, he’s currently above 50% for once)

Cheers brother! That was a hell of a great time!
One of the great bands of my era. Saw them only once before in late 80’s or early 90’s! Could not believe the energy and fresh feel of this recent show in Bmore, considering the hundreds of concerts and their physical age. Unbelievably impressive! Marshal Tucker was the opening act! They were incredible as well! I had a comfortable buzz going on, and was sweating and catching my breath by the end of the Freebird encore, (of course)!
It don’t get better than that!!
