there should be rules about back to backs, mainly there shouldn't be any.
Or both teams must have played the night before AND maybe also both had to travel.
I'll be interested in seeing if our guys can muster the same high intensity and speed they had last night.
Should we throw in some politics before the game?
#MAGA
No, I think it turns people off from participating

Today is my birthday, would like nothing more than to celebrate it with a Caps victory tonight. I am a little nervous though with Copely in net. Not sure what to expect.

If Willy was on the bench that Wood guy would be picking up his teeth off the ice latermaybe we can trade Jaskins or Dowd for him. . .hes more muscle than we have now
Feeling a bit sorry for Copley after that. He had some amazing saves."Bear" is now "Bore-akovsky" according to the Devil's comms.... :lol:He made some good saves early. The team is hanging him out to dry but I can see why he never made the NHL earlier. He looks very weak technically.
Devils a bit feisty tonight. Us, not so much,so far.....
The officiating is awful tonight. Who tripped who? It looked like Vrana got tripped to me.Are you seeing things. Vranas stick ended up between the guys legs.
Played last night, only game 4 . . . no excuse. They look plum-awful tonightIt is no excuse. Teams used to play back to back all the time and they didnt use it as an excuse.
It is no excuse. Teams used to play back to back all the time and they didnt use it as an excuse. It’s even more inexcusable to play a 13 goal pond-hockey game the first game of a back-to-back, particularly when you have to travel and you’re starting a goalie with 2 NHL games on his resume

Our guys look tired and discombobulated. That is a good description. Not only do they look physically tired but they look mentally tired too. They are slow in making decisions and lack focus.
Actually that was a good penalty to take. It was going to be a breakaway for sure.
714 strikes again
In the 2nd game of a back to back Id try to slow the game down and tighten up defensively.i’d do it in both. particularly in the first game and the 6th period will be difficult

Are we the worst team on faceoffs in the league. We are getting owed in the circle.yep, and maybe the AHL too

yep, and maybe the AHL tooI havent looked at the numbers but we arent winning many. Dowd has probably been our best. I'm thinking they might want to use Stephenson in the dot.
damn that was a badass save!Copley has made some good saves but he is a brutal technician. Terrible positioning all night.

That IS an issue with Beagle gone, and there is no ready answer in the organization right now.
It seems as though Eller in particular is suffering from Stanley Cup hangover and hasn't really gotten started this season yet.
If face-offs continue to be a problem and the 4th line doesn't give us a lot, a trade for Antoine Vermette would make some sense.
It sure looked like Copley put that puck right on the Devils stick.not like he had a hell of a lot choice 🤣
passing is god awful tonight
We were that bad tonight, it almost looked like we were paid to throw this game. :poop:
Shamefull.
How bad that Copley was actually our best player this game.
Well played by the Devils, keeping the pressure on. Ha ha ha. Mojo got 3***! Wish he'd played like that for us..... :raspberry:
not like he had a hell of a lot choice 🤣I mean he passed it to him in the slot
After tonight, the Caps owe Copley a seasons worth of free meals from the entire LR. He has played way better than he should have, and he's having to endure all this trash when he really actually had a solid game. Our defense has LITERALLY left him to dry all night. Disgusting. It's one thing to be fatigued/tired with all that is going on. But it's another not to wake up and realize that we set the tempo for the NHL we are seeing. We opened the season scoring goals and it's been hot fire ever since. We have to show up more than we did tonight even in games we are off in. Simple as that. With the exception of a shift or two in the first and second, we've been awful those periods. We had a couple of momentum pushing attempts in the third with hits etc, but we just were overpassing as hell, not remotely concerned with playing hard hockey, and making it ugly/looking for rebounds etc.damn right keep the tape. and play it ok loop in Teds and GMBetaMales offices
Forget burn the tape like Craig L has been saying, put the Tape up in the LR and force people to endure it on replay until they remember that what won this team a Stanley Cup wasn't just great offense it was commitment to winning the games however we had to. I'm sure this team can respond, but they better with Toronto on Saturday because that has all the makings of a huge statement game.
I don't think it's that bad DC, every team is gonna have a couple games like this. The bigger test is how they bounce back Saturday against the LeafsProblem is. We have only played one game in which we were clearly the better team. That was the Bruins game. The Pens outplayed us. We got a point because Murray couldn't stop a beach ball. We didnt out play Vegas either. They just couldnt finish.
So, we give up 2 or less or 6 plus? Solid game plan.. (Ō_ƆŎ) :poop: Looks like we start a halfway normal schedule next week, so hopefully they settle down then.Other than the Bruins game we have been bad defensively. The Vegas game we only gave up 2 goals but we gave them plenty of quality scoring chances. Vegas just couldnt finish. Vegas had a goal disallowed in that game ant they hit 3 goal posts. They also missed the net on several opportunities. So far I'm not liking our lack of discipline in our end.
Leafs will be tough, they were an improved team before Mattews had a 4 goal game to start his NHL career withthe question will be Reirden vs Babcock
the question will be Reirden vs BabcockWhat exactly is the question?
