So did Maaco takes his marbles and go play in another ring? :-X
7:30 start :raspberry:
Evenin'.. Time to mix a stiff one? Can I get an amen!! :uh-huh: :snicker:
Barry's eyebrows are heating up!
Didn't miss the Trotz tribute did I?? Streaming it, so not sure.. Had forgot they were gonna honor Orpik tonight. Pretty cool.. Now that that's outta the way, can they start scratching him now?
Morning all.
Not feeling terribly confident going in to tonigts game. :-|
I didn't get the tributes. :-( Can somebody post?
They haven't done the Barry Trotz one yet. I'll post a link if I find the Orpik on online sometime.I saw the Orpik write up and link just before the last game AWESOME! 8)
JoeB said they were going to do the Barry tribute at the 1st tv time out. (1st period) and when they came back from commerical they were applauding and showing Trotz on the bench.. So I "think" it's already been done.I must have blinked.... :-|

Not many takers tonight hh?
On a less funny note, we're on a PP.........PP :O=
Far better than the Predators game the other night

I might have to report that post to a moderator. I don't know, I have not watched it yet. Dare I click play? :snicker:
Isles played last night. We had three days off. Who is getting outworked? The Caps are. Though we are playing a little better than the first period. Who was it that said "uninspiring"? Nailed it!I sure as hell don’t want these guys in the playoffs. We don’t match up against a team like this as all
the proper parts are blurred out
The bigger question is why have I just now heard of the Trojan games?
My rant rety.alir that othe rthred seems a little less like a rant now and more of just rality.
that's niceWha?
Wha?
Reidon is completely outmatched here. He can’t come up with anything to counter
It is hard to imagine that this team has been unable to change their play once other teams have started to play them differently. Does this coaching staff even watch the film? Teams are clogging the neutral zone. So what? You dump the puck and play a heavy game. We are much bigger than most teams and can wear them down. Especially a team playing a back to back. But Rierden is apparently too scared of the talent on this team to TELL them how to play. Instead he lets douchebags like Burakovsky and Kuznetsov dictate how the team is going to play. As we get closer to the playoffs THIS is how the games will be and if he isn't going to change the style of play to what we did last spring we will be on the outside looking in come April. PIT, CBJ and NYI ain't going anywhere -- we will have to earn our way in, and the Atlantic has a good top 4 as well. If he can't change the way he coaches them we are fucked.
this team is a mess right now
Exactly! We have hardly used our physicality this entire season. Absolutely stupid. You're right, that's how you make space for yourself with teams like this. Make them scared and looking over their shoulders.
I mean, I guess they'll win another game at some point.. :praying: lol Night..
It'sthe lack of effort that get s me. If they can't be botered, why should I?
Oshie - no show.
Backstrom - no show.
Kuzy - no show.
Until that ends, we keep losing.
Good teams won't let us waltz into the O zone and dance with the puck which is all 92 wants to do. Frankly, 19 is playing as soft as a koala bear as well. And Eller. Totally ineffective. When we are good we are down low cycling the puck and winning the zone time game. We can't play the wide open style they are hoping to play. We get broken down for odd-man rushes all night long. Leave that shit to TOR and BUF and just play fucking hockey. Look what Trotz has done with an average talent Islander team. They got rid of their one really skilled player in Tavares and look how the system works. Rierden doesn't have the confidence of the players or in himself to REQUIRE them to play that way. This is what happens with a first year coach who doesn't have the stones or the backing of management to step on the guys who don't play the right way.
When we struggled early on in the season, I thought "just a period of adjusting to a new coach" so I gave the Caps some slack. When we started going on a winning streak, I thought "okay TR got the team in gear now great." Looks like I was wrong, and that was just Ovi being a beast that was masking the issues of the team overall...
Back from the game. Caps played ..... sort of mediocre. But the Islanders played a typical, totally defensive style road game. The real issue is that the Caps AREN'T much different than they were under Trotz, so he and the Islanders know exactly how to defend against what the Caps are doing. This loss was on the offense; the Caps didn't get more than 2 or 3 good looks all night. Nobody looked effective at all. The Isles simply took away time and space and the Caps had no answer.
Burakovsky is in a hopeless situation. On Eller's line, he has no one to get him the puck, and once again tonight he spent virtually his entire time in the offensive zone mucking along the boards, because Eller and Connolly weren't going to do it. He maybe handled the puck above the goal line twice during the game. But the top 2 lines did nothing tonight, so why rail about the 3rd line, I guess? They were simply in the same boat.
Problem is they're not winning the games they should be winning, now. And they're losing on home ice, leadership is lacking, etc.. Reirden about to find out if he's head coach material or just a glorified assistant. 8-10 games from now we'll know if they're contenders or pretenders, with their current make up.
I’m guessing this is as close to benching as it will get for a few players....

I don’t understand how Bura is still in but Jaskin isn’t, Jaskin out played everyone in his last two starts
They way the games get called, I don't mind the players complaining to the refs. It works for Syndey :snicker:
But it's nice to see the coach complain about it too. That's the one thing I couldn't stand about Trotz, he barely says a word about bad calls/non calls. If you don't count that eye twitch.
