It sucks for Calgary. I watched the game and it was crazy....4 goals in 71 seconds about 3/4 way thru the 2nd period. And then nobody scored for the rest of the 2nd or the entire 3rd period? I watched up until the end of regulation, but it was 12:15 and I couldn't handle another 20 minute intermission.
As far as the disallowed goal.....
When I saw it live, I thought it was good goal, but after watching the replay - I think he definitely attempted to nudge the puck with his skate with the intention of pushing it in. I played hockey for many years and I know he was tangled up and being pushed and falling, but he intentionally moved that inside skate to the puck which was (as one of them dudes said) a totally unnatural position for stopping or whatever. He was trying to sweep it in. Sucks because the puck was going in either way. He he was 1/20 of a second slower - it would have already crossed the goal line.
Not sure it mattered. It was good game and there were lots of scoring chances, but neither of these teams' goalies is up to snuff for the playoffs. (Especially Edmonton). Good thing they average 5 goals a game. I think Edmonton wins in 6 games if they lose last night. But what I think don't really matter. Calgary is a little (okay - very little) like watching the Caps - control the flow for big portions of the game, but when it matters, couldn't clear it from their own end....way too often.
This series was like a battle of offensive gambles - with Edmonton just shining a bit brighter with their talent. Calgary is big and fast but Edmonton is something else on offense and they are seemingly never out of it no matter the score. If they had a great goalie they'd be almost unstoppable this year.
And shocker....OT GWG by McDavid from DrySaddle (shouldn't he play for Calgary with a name like that)
And one minor thing to note (since the post is certainly not long enough already)....only thing I don't like about McDavid's play is when he scores the OT GWG...he skates off to celebrate by himself before joining his team mates for a group hug. Gonna have to watch some more replays to see if that was a fluke or if that's the way he is.
Go Edmonton. Go Canes. Go Blues. I think Blues season ends tonight.

Hmm.. I thought you had to actually kick it, for it to be a kick? Looks to me like he placed his skate at the angle needed to deflect it in. I thought that was allowed? Guess I could be mad for either argument, depending on team and outcome. lol

I think that’s why Flames fans are mad, that call could’ve went either way. But, the call on the ice was good goal.
I don’t think the Flames could’ve won the series, I was hoping they could’ve dragged it out another game or two.

well that sucks for Berube

TB is probably going to win the cup again, thus creating the latest dynasty. Vasilevsky is so superior to whoever is left in goal, that they start with a huge advantage. When one considers that they lost their entire, and very productive, third line from last year (Gourde-Goodrow-Coleman) it's a real tribute to their management that they're headed to the finals again. I expect they'll make short work of either Carolina or the Rangers and then beat either Colorado or Edmonton.
