2021 Vtek or Sammy

I guess either one is fine with me at the moment. Hate that their still doing musical goalies, but both are playing pretty well.. We don't have a goalie problem, until we do.

     That is a tough one. I think Vanecek has been more consistent but I do think that Samsonov is more capable of stealing games.
     I normally would go with the more consistent guy but I'm not sure about this one. I think we need to see more games from Samsonov to get a better idea.

No sitting on the fence for me.    I would go for VantheMan as preference.
Both of them need bungee ropes to keep them back in their net.  They are both guilty of that.  Also, they both tend to try to play the puck too much and too often.
However, Van tends to have better position and comes across as more mature.
 Sammy is more athletic, but also more erratic.
It's a fine line, but I have more faith when VantheMan is in net, than I do when Sammy is in.

   Vanecek has a better GA as Save percentage. Samsonov numbers are a bit inflated because of the blowout against the Islanders. Sammy has a better winning percentage by quite a margin.
   In recent games I feel that Sammy has had tougher games than Vanecek. Vanecek has very recently played the worst team in the league twice and didn't fair very well.

Yea, my only beef with VV is he rarely stops stuff that he shouldn't. Like in the robbery department. I know it's asking a lot, but seems like todays top goalies have that robbery ability. He seems very sound otherwise and hopefully can step into the elite category at some point. Sammy isn't there yet either, but he's who I'd start game 1 of the playoffs, if I had to make a decision today.

     I'm not blaming Vitek but like Mixstick said he makes the saves he is supposed to make.
     But I can't believe that you guys can't see how small he plays in goal. He doesn't come out to cut down angles and goes down way too early. And when he is down in the butterfly he leaves alot of room upstairs.
     Sammy plays alot bigger and is more athletic. He just needs to calm down and stop moving around so much.

You clearly just blamed him for those two loses. But then you agree that second one wasn't his fault?

     Actually I didn't blame him for any losses. BTW of those 2 games I was talking about he didn't lose 2. He was 1 and 1. But he was average at best in both games.

    You think I berate you? My apologies. Not my intent. But I di like a debate once in awhile. You have to admit this site would be pretty pretty boring I'd everyone agreed on everything,
     All I am saying is that I am leaning towards Sammy. So what. It's not like I'm saying that Sammy is miles ahead of Vitek. In fact if you read my previous posts I stated the Vitek has been more consistent.
     How about I say that I am uncomfortable with our goaltenders for a long playoff run?

    Actually Carlson is the contract that would be one of the toughest to replace because it would be hard to find a team to take that contract. You have to admit that is a pretty big contract for a defenceman his age. I think we are stuck with it.
