Wow...what a performance. That third got ugly quickly.
three blaring mistakes (among many) should have cost them the game.
-Vitek gave them one with that "play" behind the net.
-Groot gave them one with...whatever the hell he was doing way off to the outside giving the guy the middle for a 2 on 1.
-Dillon gave them one...whatever he was doing crossing way over to the opposite side and giving the RW a free pass to the net.
Vitek struggled. He looked okay in the first, but he was definitely shaky in the third. He was a bit out of position several times and I saw him loose his stick at least 3 times. Not sure what was going on with him.
And fucking Orlov looked like the occasional dipshit Orlov of old....turning the puck over on bonehead plays in the D zone...
Kuzy and Jake are dazzling with their skills but they are an outright defensive deficit. If Vranna isn't on a breakaway he has no clue what to do in either zone. Even in the o-zone he is standing around waiting for shit to happen....which makes him worthless on the PP as many have said. I like the kid and he's got some of the best jump in the game, but man he needs a bit more dimension if he is going to make it.
Kuzy has been "off" for a while now. Somebody really needs to find him a head shrinker.
What bothered me most is...well one of the things OTHER than giving up a 3 goal lead is....by midway in the third, the Caps were playing for a tie and everyone seemed okay with that.
They stole a point in OT - nice pass by Kuzy and great jets and hands by Jake, but damn...we lose the opening draw and we basically watch the Devils skate with the puck the whole time.
Im okay with trying to WIN in OT by putting o guys out there, but if they lose the draw.....its spectating.
