Yep, they're making shit up to fit a narrative. Narrative being, they don't want big hits in their league. We'll still be alive when you can no longer hit in the NHL, guaranteed..
I agree. This hit didn't really meet the criteria for a suspendable play. So they made up a rule specifically for Tom Wilson. No hard hit allowed.
And you notice how they never say a word about the guy getting hit when he is endangering himself by putting himself in a vulnerable position.
Why put it all on the player delivering the hit? Teach these idiots how to take a hit.
If you listen to any old school player about hits like this and they will tell you that if you have your head down like that you are going to get rocked.
There is less hitting in the league now than there ever has been but it seems there are more injuries. It's because the new breed of pussy players think they can prance around the ice with there head down and not get hit. And for the most part those players are right because there just aren't as many big hits anymore. The problem is that there are still a few guys like Wilson around and the players don't have a clue how to protect themselves.
I honestly think that the drop in physical play has made players oblivious to their surroundings. In today's game you see all these sissy skilled players trying all these fancy moves like toe drags, deeks and shots between the legs, spin moves. In the past if you tried those types of moves, you got put on your ass.
I'm getting close to giving up on this game.
