Well that sucked
Waste of a career day fir the top line
Flyers got some breaks with bounces and shit but YOU CANT ALLOW 5 Goals on 15 shots -don’t care who you are. Pulling V after the fourth Goal (which was one you got to have) is not surprising. The problem is you have a guy on the bench who hasn’t played in 11 months. And it showed

Agree on Sammy & Holtby, & I havent seen Sammy live up to fuck all either.

Regardless,I ,with the aid of Jack Daniels, am convincing my self that we should send him to worst team that will take him (granted the worst team that will give us the most for him), and run with VV and Copley.  Really though, that piece of Eurotrash gets given a starting spot after an HOFer needs heart surgery & he doesnt have the GOD DAMN COMMON COURTESY to follow protocol everyone else, particularly STARTING FUCKING GOALIES have to!

Just god damn un-American!!

That's the last thing I'd call not following protocol with regards to the virus....
I don't think V-tek played that poorly. 3 of the goals were by no means his fault.

today was a good example of why Anderson needs to play a game or three if this team is going to rely on him. He looked just like you’d expect of a guy that hasn’t played a game in about 12 months

Agree completely.  Im saying it sucks that a rookie has to play 9 of 11 games because the "starter" is a dumbass.
How did he not realize hes only #1 because an HOFer had a cardiac surgery, & theres someone right behind behind you? Granted, I can be flippiant about Covid protocols, but not at work or family.

I just hope it didnt decrease his trade value to much.  I say semd both he & Kuzy out, but nobody will take Suzys contract.

So yeah, ship Samny off for fuckin the team over

Does Sam have any trade value? I'd give Kuzy a couple games and if he doesn't show up with fire out the ass, I'd really be looking to move him. Orlov as well.

My seeds of discontent have grown roots, it seems.
Even if Ovi didn't have such a great game as he did today, he was still going nowhere.  He is still too valuable to the Caps, both in the team and in the orgonisatiion.  He brings in far too much money to be let go.  I am so glad he did so well today.
The other three iidots, I really, really couldn't care less about.   You can teach, you can trrain, you can coach, but you cannot CURE stupid and as far as I'm concerned, as I've already said, the sooner they are gone, one way or another, the better.   Bliithering idiots.

I've been trying to get my head round some of The Lav's decisions.

II do not get why he pulled Van the Man when he diid.  Don't get that at all.

Seems to me like he's already called this season a wash and is just checking out what he's got to play with in the future.
I mean the guy's been a coach for a while, so you'd thiink there's a plan, huh?  You'd hope he knows what he's doing........

Yes, I agree as well. Never understood they hype, that's why I am cheering for VV.

I actually was hoping the Caps would have traded Sammy 2 years ago and gave Holtby an extension.
I thought there was way too much hype on Sammy before he came to North America. Saying he was the best goalie in the world that wasn't playing in the NHL. Well I haven't seen it yet. He is a very athletic goaltender and can make some ridiculous saves because of it and that fact that he doesn't give up on a play. But he isn't very good fundamentally and I havent seen an improvement since he has gotten here.
Right now Vanecek is better with the fundamentals than Sammy but he isn't as big or as athletic.  I don't think any of our goalies can carry a team into and through the playoffs.

I agree with that statement, but......4 goals on 14 shots and the 4th is a softy...you pull the goalie.  Generally speaking pulling the goalie is a statement to the team NOT just the netminder.   The problem was....Anderson wasn't ready and how could he be?  Not a great place to get into a game when you have not played one in 11 months.  Wasn't really fair to either goalie, but that "softy" took the air out of the team.

THe Dowd line is great to watch and the NBC talking heads kept raving on them.  They are great forecheckers and puck hounds but nobody on that line has any scoring touch.  Yes they have had SOME goals this year and I love it when they score, but go back and look at them...most had some bounce/luck (created by their hard work).  I love their effort and attitude, and hemming in the opponent keeps the opponent from scoring, but....If we can't score, at best it's a wash.  Granted they are a checking line meant to keep opponent from scoring, but  If any one of them had some touch, they'd have some better impact.  Problem is currently, with the second line in shambles....and the third line unable to really score....you are going to lose some matches.

That and when you have to limit roster changes due to salary cap....you need to fix that cap problem so you have the room to try the players you want (ahem...McMichael)

The team is having problems on two fronts.  First off, the defense is simply terrible.  It degraded during the season last year and is the same or worse now.  Orlov and Jensen are worthless.  Carlson has all the defects we've long known about but he's too much of a ballyhooed "star" to go anywhere.  I don't understand the Chara signing, either.  The team needs to get younger not older.

Speaking of that, the second reason they are struggling is because they get gassed as the games wear on.  It's why they've given up multiple goal leads (as many as 3 goals several times) this year for losses or near losses.  Their legs are rubber by the 3rd period and younger teams skate circles around them.  It's amazing that management, far from addressing the situation, has actually made the team older with guys like Chara, Shultz and Lundquist.  Having a shortened season will help but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they faded and missed the playoffs altogether.

Sure, at least getting our pick back for Sami. Not sure if hes a one-way or how the taxi squad works, but Id be fine with sending up 83 or have him follow the team bus in a yellow cab

In general Id agree with you, but, this is the Caps that have been in "win now" mode, & that being "make the playoffs and well have a chance for 15yrs.

Right now, I cant name our top D prospect, mostly because we let our last one walk, so we arent letting prospects rot, we don't have any.

For the vets on D, meh. Its a team with a new coach in a fucked up season so we dont have much time to develop young Dman.  We needed guys who could step right in, and younger UFAs would have costed more than the cap mess we are in can afford.

What will get give him hell for is the forwards he brought in. Carr, Sheary, Sprong, and the frog we brought in this weekend who played his first NHL game at 30, none of them are above 6' or 200, or have or CAN play D worth a damn. Hathaway is 10x the player any of them are.

Normally, id say bring up Axel, McMicheal, and Leason up now.  However, as much as i hate it, we aren't in a place to develop young players effectively now.  Granted the Lolipop Guild GMBetaMale brought in instead of real players, sans Sheary, havent played many more games than the rookies, they have been able to drink for more than a year or two.

But yes, Ive been saying we should have prioritize the future more for years.  So the question needs to be who is really ready to risk the playoffs for a few years, & loosing some "names", to correct Teds & Dickless Patricks marketing scheme?

We lose a couple games and now the sky is falling. Same old story around here. Relax people. It's a new system and we've had boatloads of injuries. If any of you guys (and girls) were GM you'd be making a trade every time someone has a bad game. Pretty hard to win games when your second line is sheary, eller and panik. This team is deep and when healthy they are solid.
Giving kuznetsov away would be a mistake. He should have won the Conn Smyth when we won the cup and if you actually aren't biased because of your hate for him, you'd admit that as well. He's a gamer and has been our best player in the post season almost every year (except last, they all sucked it up)

Samsonov has tones of trade value. Let him settle back in and knock the rust off. He hadn't played since last March. We need him and Vanecek this year and Anderson should be put on waivers. Keep the better of the two at the end of year and trade the other for picks and prospects so that Seattle doesn't take one of them instead of Oshie.
Orlov also isn't as bad as many of you believe but I do think he is expendable. If the caps can move him at the deadline for picks and prospects, I could see some non playoff teams being interested in him then (Detroit or Buffalo) or possibly Winnipeg for some depth on their roster as I see them as a playoff team but they need some help in front of Hellebuyck.
If Caps can move Orlov's contract and Oshie gets picked up by Seattle, that will be around 10M in cap space relief.
Trading one of the young goalies and Orlov would fetch a decent return.

Agree with most of these sentiments.

My comment was going to be...as much as we hate the lazy Kuzy.....We DO NOT HAVE A CUP without him (the great Kuzy)...past or present.

if most of us were the GM this team wouldn't have to dress 7 D because they have no cap space to bring a guy up from Hershey

Surprised teams are lining up to hire you. Have you ever got an interview for a GM job? Even an offer to be a scout would impress me. I know Ted would read the boards when they were on their website. I'm surprised he hasn't contacted you yet with all your brilliance you show day after day on here.

The sky ain't falling.   Of course we're going to lose the odd game here and there.  That's not the issue, for me, anyway.
Firstly, I wish to say that if I had to protect either Oshe or Kuzy, I would protect Oshie EVERY single day of the week and twice on Sundays.  Is he the more skilled player? Hardly!  Is he a better centre?  No.
But he doesn't EVER take a shift off.  He doesn't glide.  He doesn't pretend to be pretty.  He goes to the net and takes all the punshment that entails.  Put him on the wing and he does that job.  He isn't the fastest, but he hustles.  He forechecks and he is actually more defensively responsible than some of our Dmen.  Cough, cough, Dylan.... jus' sayin'.   He's not afraid to be physiical.
I would take that mentality and that work ethic over the likes of Kuzy, EVERY day.

And now for Kuzy.

I've had enough.
He's one of the most naturally talented players we've ever had.  He reminds me more and more of Sasha Semin every day.   All the talent can't make up for lack of heart.  The self entitlement, the arrogance.  He doesn't just tke the odd shift off, he takes whole games off.  He is the epitomy of the "Klub Kettler" culture that we have been trying to shake off for years now.
When he first came here, I could forgive him.  He was young.  He's been here a while now.  It's about time he grew up.   He's still more interested in    :peacock: than anything else.
I say trade him.  Let some other team deal with the diva, where he'll actually have to work for and earn his money.  Whilst he's here, he's under Ovi's umberella.  Under Ovi's Weagle wing protection.

It would be interesting to see if he was quite so cocky in another arena.........

As for the others.........   I haven't seen, heard, or read any other apology, other than Ovi's for their gross stupidity that sent them into quarantne.
THAT is what pisses me off.
I am
