AFAIC all the major league sports in the USA have committed SJW suicide.
Be careful what you ask for America; you just might get it.

I've been thinking about this, we all love an outdoor game and lake Louise is beautiful, but I think it's stupid for the league to incur the cost of this if fans aren't going be allowed to attend

I can't believe we have to wait until January for the season to begin.

And How are they going to manage 82 games?  Or we just going to permanently move the season start back to Dec/Jan?  THat's stupid

How about just shorten this season to 60 games this year and then get back to normal next year?'

I know the league is short on revenue, but I'm not really digging hockey past June (you know....being life-long Cap fan and all, I'm used to the season ending in April)

it will take at least three seasons to get the schedule back to where it should be under bettmans leadership. It could be done in two if they cut the next couple seasons down to 60 games, which won't do much to bring the fans back

there are quite a few teams that will have problems making a decent ice sheet in their arena in August, and not just ones in the south either. Though it will be easier if the building isn't full of fans. There's a reason it's a winter sport

buttman "advised" the GMs to not make public comments about the meetings, appearently because he doesn't care what the fans think

The only way the NHL plays 82 games this season is if the summer olympics gets canceled before the season starts. NBC has the contract to broadcast both the NHL and the oylmpics, and the general consensus is they can't do both at the same time.

I'd be good with a shorter season this season to attempt to get back to a "normal" schedule over the next couple years.
Reduce it to 60 games this year....70 next, then back to 80-82 the following.

I think most of us would've been ok with just canceling the rest of 19-20 so 20-21 could be normal, instead of dealing with the bullcrap for 2-3 more years

February?  Jesus...is it due to Covid concerns?  I realize it has been a short offseason, but hell, most teams have been off since end of August, so they will have 3-4 months if season starts Jan 1.
How much friggin time do they need?  Pushing it to Feb just prolongs the agony for two more years to come.

Hope the NHL starts January, but doubt that if AHL and OHL have pushed to February.

If this is what they need to do and how they need to do it, then so be it.
Pretty sure it isn't just to inconvenience you Rich, or anyone else personally.

But that's beside the point.  My point was the longer they keep dicking with this season....the more seasons down the road it will take to get back to "normal:
AND
they should have just bit it last year after the long layoff and canceled the stupid Covid Cup and started more normal from here moving forward.
AND

I'm bored.

NovaCaps: Each team will play at least 48 games in 2020-2021 NHL season.

48 games.

as I see things at this point, there are two impediments to playing hockey this year. The election and that jackass bettman

bettman became league commissioner on February 1 1993, prior to that he worked for the nba
it's time for him to be physically thrown out
